I dunno, FF13 has done very well on xbox 360, but I still think the sales it has there could have been achieved on PS3 too. I think PS3 can sustain a FF game by itself. But if all S-E is seeing is sales on the paper then yeah they would want to do this move.
I think they should make Versus timed exclusive worldwide at the least as a litmus test. For example many people said MGS4 was going multiplat but when it sold that well on PS3 I don't think Konami felt there was any need to go multiplat.

At this point SE has shown that they want to expand into the west market more on the xbox360 over the ps3, and nothing wrong with that I say more power too them at SE.
The fact that SE has made more Exclusives for the xbox360 this generation than the PS3 tell's the story more so than some gamer's wishing for SE to stick with one company over the view of some misplaced loyalty. The fact that SE is looking out for their best interest's in North America is a good thing for their bottom line.Though I do think SE is leaving some money on the table though quite a bit that is.
I can see some gamer's "mainly being PS3 only gamer's" upset by this but SE's history speak's for itself, they go where the Money is. right now SE's best expansion into the western market IE: in this reguard I am talking about mainly North America is on the xbox360, though I think the Wii should also be a focus also Along with the PS3. Though While I do see SE trying to expand their market as a good thing , but leaving less exclusives on the table for other game console's in this generation is a big mistake In my opinion. Esp. for 3rd parties.
I think the real issue is SE stated from the start they were going to be more even across the board on releases on the game console's this generation, but so far that has not been the case at all. that may change but it sure does not look like it will.

Yup they are doing it for money no doubts and as they are a company we can't criticize them doing it jsut for the money. But when they make promises & break them, that I have a issue with. I couldn't care less if versus went multiplat, FFXIII did and its one of my favorites in the series.
BUT when they say it WILL NOT go multiplat then they should keep it that way.

yea i agree it's a company and you have to expect that company to do thing's that is in the companies best interest's.
though I can indeed see the flack thrown their way for not being upfront with a multiplatform status of any of their IP's. Now while I think there may be not intention to mislead the consumer by choice they have not been very open with their communication with the consumer about their direction until later or after the fact. Now that may be from miss communication through their public relation's or they do not get their info out as quick as they could.
So I cannot fault them looking out for their companies bottom line, I do think they need better and faster updated communication to the consumer though.

Exactly they need to improve communication, they need to be honest. In fact for versus XIII they shouldn't have announced a platform for the game at all, thats the best thing they can do, just don't announce the platform & see how things go. They should only announce the platforms when they are certain what console it will be on.

i have alway's look at it that way also, but companies do that to generate Hype from fan's of their IP'S
See the way i see it
:
is in the past SE has grown their IP fanbase on both Nintendo and Sony platform's.
the only one they have yet to grow their IP fanbase in a sizeable number's yet is on Microsoft's xbox platform's.
not to say they do not have IP fanbese for their IP's on the Microsoft platform , it's just that they have not had enough time yet. both Nintendo and Sony have 10+ year's of advantage that SE has had to be able to grow their fanbase for their IP's , if people
have not noticed..that's what SE is trying so hard to do, grow their fanbse for their IP's on the Microsoft platform.
How well that work's out is anyone's guess , I think it will take quite some more time though, It still seem's to me the majority of game's the gamer's on the xbox platform still prefer MP 1st or 3rd view shooter's as the most played game's on the xbox platform.
SE trying to change the gamer's taste's of their game preference that to increase their IP fanbase into their RPG's on the xbox platform is looking to be a very daunting task, not to say they would not be able to do it , far from it, I just think it's going to take more time to do so.
