So I guess inFamous is an RPG then, right?

I think he's just upset FFXIII beat ME2 in sales.

Yet ME2 is regarded easily as the better rpg.....I dont think anyone thought that FF13 would lose to ME2 in sales....

That's up to personal preference, really. People with Western tastes (the majority of the Western people) will go with ME2, while people with Japanese tastes (majority of Japan) will go for FFXIII.

The sales thing was a small remark on the side, but I don't agree with the guy's reasoning on what an RPG is to some extent (at least with the way he worded things).

@Zarx "in a real life RPG"

thats what you she said (in this case you), but honestly I did not come here to argue just post my opinion and my opinion is that JRPGs are RPG.

ok ok no offence meant I was just posting my opinion of your opinion lol. I consider JRPGs RPGs to but I can also see where the bioware dev was coming from and was trying to explain it to the people that were acting like he was saying that JRPGs were bad games etc. The definition of an RPG like I and others pointed out has different meanings to different people and they are all pretty much equally valid. Games can be great without being RPGs.

as for "in real life RPG" I was pointing out where the term originated/concept came form, The Bioware dev probably grew up playing D&D etc and that is were he would have been introduced to RPGs, you probably started with JRPGs which from the D&D based definition of an RPG isn't a real RPG, not that there is anything wrong with that I like JRPG games but I can acknowledge that some people could consider them not to be RPGs.

I think 13 is the better RPG. But my opinion doesn't matter in this situation.

From a business standpoint sales are what count. Not how many good reviews you get.

Do you seriously expect an new ip to compete sales wise with an almost 2 decade old ip? And besides , your opinion might be that but you are in the minority.

And why the hell do sales even matter in this situation? The guy was talking about what constitutes an rpg and had you and huax read what he said then you would see that he is absolutely right.

JRPG's are called non-rpg's and the best arguement the both of you can come up with is sales....pathetic.

Learn to read.

Learn to comprehend.....the guy in no way is talking about sales......but please keep bringing irrelevent info.

What the hell are you talking about?

I was responding to YOUR post. Jesus christ. Maybe you should learn to take your own damn advice.

Which was a  response to huak's post....your the one who went on about the "business standpoint" something I am not even trying to make to focal point of my first post here.

The bottom line is that you may think FF13 is the better game but the industry thinks otherwise....ME1/2 delivered while FF13 isnt nearly getting the same treatment that ME2 is getting with reviewers.

The quality standpoint speaks much louder than the "business standpoint" in this case......
