I'm not comparing anything, I'm just saying that saying "360 sales arent that bad" and "PSP and DS sales are awful" is a stupid comment to make, when the 360 sold less than both.

What is more interesting is that in a week with no significant release PS3 software is almost virtually tied with Wii SW in Others....

factor in the bundle software and PS3 actually sold more games than the Wii, quite good...

Well, you can also say that, opposite to the ps3, wii has seen no major releases so far, and that ps3 just got the FIFA world cup 2010 game, which is extremely popular in Europe.

Your logic doesnt make sense, Ali is referring to this past week which did not see any new PS3 releases.  Your Wii reference is talking about an longer period of time (more than 1 week) and a game that hansnt been released yet.  You are comparing apples and oranges.

Yes, wii has seen no major release... that includes last couple of weeks. Opposite to the ps3, which has had 3 good releases in the las 2 weeks. SO yeah, I have a BIG point there.

Point 1: The time frame im getting from Ail comment is just 1 week not 2 not 10 just 1.  This past week (last 7 days) no new ps3 releases, take away Wii bundled software, PS3 software is greater.

Point 2:

The Wii has had  a significant amount of new releases in the past month:

Sin and Punishment, Sakura Wars, The same fifa game released on the PS3, the same Iron Man 2 title released on the PS3, Monster Hunter Tri

The fact that these games are not selling is not the PS3's fault but to say that the Wii hasnt had any titles released that is significant is ludacris.

So you expect a game to launch and just sell that week?It's obvious that if you had 3 new games last week, you are going to see an increase in SW numbers.

 

I don't count Iron man as a important realease. Sin and punishment and sakura wars DO NOT compare to GTA and SF.

 

MHTri is the only important release, and still, not even in the same league as the other ones.

 

The fact that you ignore this things, and are misinformed is what tends you to say such stupid claims.

It's going to be hard to find a period where no new game was released on the PS3 at all for more than a 7 days period...

All I'm saying is that there hasn't been any significant recent big release ( I don't consider FIFA that sold 130k in week 1 in Others to be a major blockbuster..).

The last real big PS3 release in Other was GoW3 and that was 8 weeks ago..

Realistically this is a very quiet period....

There are PS3 games released at least every other week....

 

 



PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

Ohh damn awful 360 sales, if they are doing so bad now just wtf will happen when the might godliness of GT5 drops a hammer of whoop ass on them.

They need to do a price cut and fast.

PSP still alive, weren't it supposed to be on its death bed.

Well there are a few examples... for instance, and I paraphrase... "excellent psp sales"  "terrible 360 sales"  the YOY tells a totally different story.

Obviously 360 sales arent great, but they arent that bad.  Whereas PSP sales and DS sales are relatively awful.  This discussion is about this weeks sales and I am merely comparing to this week last year, a good barometer.

PSP sold better than the 360, so how can the 360's sales be "not that bad" and the psp sales be "relatively awful"?

Doesn't matter that the PSP sold way less year on year, it still sold much better than the Xbox 360.

On reflection... DS numbers are awesome and all the rest are crap.  

Mmm i never said you were wrong. I just said that to me (you know, as just me, myself) the YoY numbers don't really matter.

If you like YoY comparisson that's ok. But a lot of things change in one year, price cut, models, bundles, colors, big releases. So yeah....

I just a matter of opinion

Fair enough, The psp is doing bad YOY but its the best numbers its seen in a while I think apart from last week with peace walker boost, and that may have been what people where reffering to

What gap are you talking about? If PS3/360 then"vast majority" is a vast exaggeration. PS3 over 360 is ~26K. Other/Other gap is 9.5K. 9.5/26 = 36.5%. Not even a small majority. I think maybe the phrase you were looking for is "the largest contributor to the gap by far" but that's not hard given it's the largest sub-chart by a wide margin (total 116K units cf UK at 2nd with 63K units).

yea but what's the point of spinning it to relative terms? The 360 still sold less.. he just spun it around to make it seem like the 360 is doing better than the other two.

If product A usually sits at 100k a week, drops to 50k the week after.
Product B usually sits at 10k a week, ups itself to 30k the week after.

Product A would be doing relatively awful, while Product B would be doing amazing.. even though product A outsells product b by 20k.
