Forums - Nintendo - Which system has/will have better games, Wii or Gamecube?

GameCube's got Star Fox Adventures and Assault, Wii... not even a Star Fox game announced...

Pikmin 2 isn't on Wii, and it's not announced yet... (that's got me worried actually), GC has Donkey Konga 1 + 2 and DK Junglebeat, Wii has a terrible DK racing game, a port of Junglebeat which plays worse than the original, and nothing else...

GC has RE 0 and 1, and were origginally for it, Wii has them ported with NO IMPROVEMENTS. GC has a Metal Gear game which is quite good.

GC has F-Zero, and it's the very best game in the saga, Wii doesn't. GC has Megaman Annyversary and X Collection, Viewtiful Joe 1 + 2, Killer 7, Eternal Darkness, Skies of Arcadia, Baten Kaitos 1 and Origins, Tales of Symphonia, Paper Mario 2, Mario Tennis with good control, Zelda 4 Swords adventures, Master's quest and a collectors disk with 4 classic Zelda games! GC has even a Mario Dance Dance Revolution game with a special pad with Mario on it!

Both are great consoles, with awesome games. I don't understand why we have to choose only one... Well, I choose Wii, because it plays every GameCube game...

It depends on whether or not yu see content as a valid value proposal, and hether or not content is necessarily tied into presentation, and whether or not content had anything to do with what's come before.

Let's rephrase, shall we?

In order to make an identical value proposition, we have to assume that up to now Super Mario Bros. never existed, and that as a result the platforming genre as we know it also never existed, probably kept more to someting like Pitfall until the jump to 3-D and thereafter more or less forgotten.

Would Super Mario Bros. still review in a very high range if it released today for the first time? Certainly. The game's mechanics and level design are still impeccable.

Not sure what kind of spin that is meant to be, but it did release back when it did much like those GC games released when they did.

Then the question you pose is meaningless: you're asking what would happen if Nintendo made a value proposition outside of the norm. Moe, you failed to draw a parallel between "quality" and "value" for reviewers.

GameCube because of Phantasy Star Oniline.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

THis topic is as bad as saying the Gamecube was more hardcore than the Wii.
The Wii already surpass the Gamecube in sales, games, 3rd Party support, and games made by Nintendo. Throw in Online, VC store, DS to Wii connectivity. So Wii wins!

What's better Xbox or 360? 360!
Now the real question is what has better library The PS2 or the PS3! Despite the PS3 being a superior system. The PS2 still has overall better games! In my opinion!

The Gamecube for me. It has games that I actually like to play.

Gamecube, easily.

I'll even go as far to say if you remove Nintendo developed games from the GC its still got a better library than the Wii has even with Nintendo games.

lol, no. I can maybe see someone arguing for GC depending on their tastes if you include Nintendo (and count retail Wii only, if you add VC/WW it's over), but 3rd party?  Wii's lineup RAPES Gamecube.  Hell, I'd say even Capcom alone already has a better Wii lineup (REmake/0/4, MH3, TVC, Okami, Z&W, MM9/10) than they did GC (REmake/0/4/2/3/CV, Viewtiful Joe 1/2/RHR, PN03, K7, CVS2, MMNT).

I think listing ports of last gen games in defence of the Wii library shows a weakness more than strength, especially when some of those ports offer no additional content.

Uh, but I also listed ports for GC with no additional content (RE2/3/CV, CVS2) and a remake (Remake)?  If you're talking purely original releases only, you've got MH3, TVC, Z&W & MM9/10 versus RE0/4, VJ1/2/RHR, PN03 K7 & MMNT.  It's closer, but the Wii lineup still wins out imo, and it still has more coming (like Basara 3).

Actually (in Europe at least) the ports of the RE games from PS1 had additional content that was otherwise only available on the Dreamcast which was from the same gen as GC.  CVX and CvS2 were the same gen too.  REmake was a brand new game, it was not a port or a tweaked port.

GC versions were still later ports.  REmake wasn't "brand new", though it was a ground up remake to the degree where I wouldn't have a problem counting it.  Of course, you could probably make the same sort of argument for Dead Rising Wii.  And honestly, the time gap between some of the Wii ports (RE4, Okami) is actually less time than CVX GC was.

Anyway, comparing made-for-the-platform "original" titles...

Exactly this.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

The Wii also has the entire Gamecube library, so...

I LOVE ICELAND!
