Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo sales Forecast for 2010 - Let's discuss it

Wii wont have a pricecut or big system seller in the late months then, it seems.

DS Lite, DSi and DSi XL will all get pricecuts towards the end of the year if those DS numbers don't include 3DS.

3DS may not even be releasing this year... Or did i miss a confirmation?

- Super Mario Galaxy 2

- Wii Relax (if it comes out this year)

- Zelda

- An unannounced title perhaps.

Those three will push more Wii hardware than the majority - if not all -  of the HD big games will push PS3 or 360 hardware.

Nintendo is not like Microsoft, Sony and pretty much every other 3rd party who usually reveal their games before 1 year and a half of it's release.

You know pretty much what's coming for the 360 this fall. PS3 too.

For the Wii, we don't know shit.

I said it seems, not that it was fact. The drop in SW just seemed odd to me.

And we have no idea what the PS3's exclusive lineup will consist of!

I disagree with Mario Galaxy 2 and Zelda pushing much hardware: Galaxy for sure won't move too many units, and Zelda will only do so if it really is something revolutionary. Wii Relax may (or may not) be a different story.

You're right about Carl jumping the gun though. This time last year we had no idea that NSMBWii existed, and that game has done more to revitalize the system than any game since Wii Fit.

I think it's probably fair to assume that whatever Sony cooks up probably won't move hardware like whatever Nintendo cooks up, though I could be wrong.

I believe that Nintendo will no longer be counting bundled games in their upcoming sales forcasts... and now this will include both Wii Sports and Black Wii bundles with Wii Sports Resort. Not 100% sure though, can anyone confirm this?

EDIT: From the news page - "The Wii software forecast does not include "software bundled with hardware" - which is now Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort - so the Wii software forecast is actually flat to slightly up over the previous fiscal year."

True. It would be fair to assume.

But you never know what they have for Move. And you never know what Agent could do.

If they get something big, to go alongside GT5 (if we assume it WILL be out this Holiday), you never know...

I'm talking based on previous releases. Halo 3, Uncharted 2, GoW3, Killzone 2 were high profiles games that failed to push as much hardware as games like Mario Kart or Wii Fit.

I believe that Zelda will be a more system seller than Halo Reach.

Not that sales only rely on high profile launches though, there's many other factors going around. But basically what I'm saying is that no game from the HD consoles, can push an HD machine to same level as Wii numbers.

The only title capable of that is GT5 and even with it, it won't reach Wii sales, but can be damn close.

As for Move, they would need a system seller that shows it doing stuff not possible on the Wii and very appealing. To this point they haven't showed it.

Even if they got a killer app like that, they would nedd a nice pricepoint. And 400$ (PS3 - 300$; PS Move w/ game - 100$) is not a nice price point when you have a Wii for 200$ that brings two games bundled.

Wii may be down in the forecasts because of delays we dont know about? Maybe we will go through another long drought, and they know it.

A theory, not stating anything.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.
