Forums - Sales Discussion - PS3 Systems Are In Abundance Post Black Friday

http://www.thebitbag.com/index.php/2007/11/26/ps3-systems-are-in-abundance-post-black-friday/

Well Black Friday is passed and if tradition serves correctly, it’s the day that sets the trends for the holidays.  How was the console war affected by Black Friday?  Word on the streets is that Wii’s are still hard to find, Xbox Premium and Elite  systems are nowhere to be found and PS3 systems are everywhere, yet still selling.

If you want to get an 80gb or 40gb PS3, they are in plentiful piles.  You can pretty much go to any store and buy one.  Even thought the price drop has caused a sales surge, the stock from the past few months is in abundance.  If you want a PS3 for Xmas, you should have no problems finding one.

Xbox 360’s now come in 4 flavors: the Elite, the Premium, the Arcade and the Halo 3 box.  Halo 3 boxes are easy to find.  People just don’t seem to like that color so they aren’t jumping on it.  Arcade systems are here and there.  In my travels through many stores I was unable to find Premiums in abundance.  Some stores had none at all while others had just a few.   The Elite however, has disappeared off the planet.  I did not see one Elite this weekend at all.

Wii stock is just like last year.  It comes and it goes.  It’s just as popular as it was last Christmas if not more.  I really thought they would be easier to find this year but Nintendo is doing it’s best to keep demand up.  Shit, all I want to play is Wii Sports!  I may have to import or mail order a couple.

If this Black Friday forshadows the holidays ahead, you can be rest assured that it will be just like last year with Wii at 1st place, X360 at 2nd and PS3 at 3rd in sales.  You heard it here first.  Keep your eyes peeled.

If sony is claiming 300% ect in sales can only imagine the Wii and 360.  Is that 17 million really out of reach for the 360?  I remember reading some article saying the 360 would be hard to come by and sort of figured it was PR bullshit but I guess I might have been wrong.  Can't wait to see the vgchartz numbers for the end of this month as well as NPD.

Always posting the Sony hate huh? So since this one store has a stack of PS3s, Sony is spreading BS? I went to BB on sat when I bought Rock Band and saw many a 360 stacked up also. SO, according to your picture, 360 isn't selling either.

Let's wait for the vgchartz numbers to come in before we start analysing the sales.

Well Sony is doing very well with sales so far in Europe and Japan, maybe it won't do so bad in the US?

I'll take the case!!!

Thank you.  Someone sees a stack of a system and then automatically, it isn't selling.  I love how that goes.

Well, the holiday season is coming so you need huge quantities to satisfy demand. I guess that's a plus not a negative. They didn't stack these for Black Friday alone.

In my area(40 mile Radius) This is the way it looked.

PSP = Sold Out in alot of stores however you could still find a few here and there.

DS = Sold Out everywhere.

Wii= Sold Out Everywhere

360= No Halo Boxes in 2 stores. No Premium or Elites anywhere. Plenty of the other's.

PS3 = You could find stacks(and I do mean stacks) everywhere. Granted I'm sure they sold alright.

Stores checked

Wal Mart

Boycotting the following:

1. Yoshi: He ate my car and spit out a toaster.

2. Igglybuff: Totally false advertisement. You can have as many as you like they don't buff nothing.

3. the Terms Hardcore/Softcore... We're talking Video Games. Not Porn.

4. The term Casual as relates to Gamers: We make them sound like outsider's that happen to play games.  If that were the case they'd own a PS3.

5. Donuts.... Beacause I drink Beer...... and the biggest fan of Donuts hates Beer.

6. Boycotts: Their so lame.

i'm pretty sure when you say this you are talking about America. If so your analysis is pretty much a no brainer.

the BB by me also has a huge stack of playstation 3s (just over 100 pre black friday on the floor). i counted pre and post black friday and assuming they had all of there stock showing both before and after this store sold about 25 units.

anyways, ps3 is almost assured the 3rd spot in america but WW is more interesting to me.

Having a huge stack of consoles left can also mean that Sony has got their production and shipment in order for now. It's just how you want too look at it. One thing is for sure, if Wii and 360 are hard to get the PS3 will benefit greatly. Perhaps the PS2 will benefit from the lack of Wii's more.

I do agree with the original poster that the Wii will be first, 360 second (if stock on both is sufficient) and PS3 third but that will only be in northern America. The rest of the world will see Wii first, PS3 2nd and 360 third.

comon sense would have told you that the system that was producing more units then it was selling would have been able to get a surplus--i am not saying it is selling bad now...but only a fool would tell you for the last few months sony has been seeling like hotcakes---and becuse of this there are lots more of them sitting around able to be bought---trust me you will see some nice numbers from sony...but its nothing the comp hasn't already been seeing for the wii/360
