Nintendo and Sony are the best in platforming in the same way that Someone who got an A and someone who got a C are both top of the class when everybody else has gotten D's or F's.
Nobody has really done platformers like Nintendo. Honestly if I was a big platforming fan that'd drive me crazy. Well 3D platformers anyway.
2D It's more Nintendo and Capcom.

Like some people have said in this thread, what Platformers does Sony do? Like many games Sony has, they don't 'make' the games as much as publish them. They're totally different than Nintendo, who is both a console developer and in house game studio.
That aside, I think there's plenty of companies out there that have made better platformers than stuff like Crash Bandicoot and Jak and Daxter.

No comparison really. The best PS games aren't made by Sony but rather third parties lol.
But any way, again, there are many companies that do platformers better than Sony. Besides Ratchet I'm trying to scratch my head to find platformers that they've made.
Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:
If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.
If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.
If this conversation would take place in the PS1 era, (i.e before Super Mario Galaxy) there'd be a slight chance I'd consider Sony. (Nintendo still has the most platformers, but if we're only looking at the singular best platforming game of all time.)
I'm a big fan of Crash Bandicoot and Spyro, but Nintendo would still take the cake. And since then, the gap has only stretched in Nintendo's advantage. Sorry Sony. You've got some excellent platformers, but in this particular genre, Nintendo is unchallenged.

That would be Super Mario 64 in the PS1 era.
MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.
Nintendo is still better known for platformer titles
