Like some people have said in this thread, what Platformers does Sony do? Like many games Sony has, they don't 'make' the games as much as publish them. They're totally different than Nintendo, who is both a console developer and in house game studio.
That aside, I think there's plenty of companies out there that have made better platformers than stuff like Crash Bandicoot and Jak and Daxter.
