The PS3 weekly rate dropped in March, which is what usually happens in March.. Doesn't look like shortages is a good excuse for the drop.

The 2010 Handheld Software graph looks like Pac-man....coincidence?

"Pier was a chef, a gifted and respected chef who made millions selling his dishes to the residents of New York City and Boston, he even had a famous jingle playing in those cities that everyone knew by heart. He also had a restaurant in Los Angeles, but not expecting LA to have such a massive population he only used his name on that restaurant and left it to his least capable and cheapest chefs. While his New York restaurant sold kobe beef for $100 and his Boston restaurant sold lobster for $50, his LA restaurant sold cheap hotdogs for $30. Initially these hot dogs sold fairly well because residents of los angeles were starving for good food and hoped that the famous name would denote a high quality, but most were disappointed with what they ate. Seeing the success of his cheap hot dogs in LA, Pier thought "why bother giving Los Angeles quality meats when I can oversell them on cheap hotdogs forever, and since I don't care about the product anyways, why bother advertising them? So Pier continued to only sell cheap hotdogs in LA and was surprised to see that they no longer sold. Pier's conclusion? Residents of Los Angeles don't like food."

"The so-called "hardcore" gamer is a marketing brainwashed, innovation shunting, self-righteous idiot who pays videogame makers far too much money than what is delivered."

DS really has a stranglehold on PSP over there.

An amazing Generation, it seems that the PS3 is finallly selling 1st party software the way it should.

From Gaf.

Why such large gaps

I'm sure ioi's figures for LBP ect are all correct given past NPD's

so saying >750k for LBP when it's done around 1.3 mill there is useless ....

Edit - Oops LBP figures are 2009 ^^

Well everything else seems spot on from what I can tell, well done VGC!

Edit #2 ACII we have at 1.5 mill, say 1.35 mill for NA. Maybe we have that over tracked?

Pretty bad that R:FOM was the only SCEA-published million seller this time last year. The fact that GOW3 exceeded 1mln in its first month is impressive though.

I have to say that some titles seem to be poorly tracked here based on numbers given in that gamasutra article.

The article actually pointed out that GOW3 is the only PS3 to pass 1m it's first NPD.  MGS4 also did it, but only by combining hardware bundles too (software alone MGS4 was ~750k).

Really, really impressive for Sony.  The slimomentum's really righted the ship for them.

Software-wise pretty close (only checked the April 2010 data)
Only games that look incorrect are Uncharted 2 and Assassin's Creed 2.

However this is just an estimation from the author based on "software dollars" right ?
Or does he really have full informations about those NPD April 2010 LTD sales ?
