i was thinking of writing a thread like this but i wasn't up for the reactions.

I couldn't make it past 3 hours of the game.

You forgot to mention the long load times and the broken shooting, thanks to the annoying auto-aim.

There was even a glitch that occurred the other day that I kept falling through the floor into nothingness everytime i opened a certain door. I had to power off the wii to get around that.

What about a proper map of the entire explored world as opposed to just the area you're in...i mean seriously everything looks the same and you'd just end up getting lost

i didn't mention the loading time because i thought its normal in wii games (i don't own much Wii games) as for the Auto aim , why does it exist? its an FPS for crying out loud.

The auto-aim exists because it's actually a first-person action game. Moving from strong sword gestures where the reticule is far off screen to an accurate shot is very jarring, so the computer helps you ease the transition. It helps maintain the fast pace of combat and ecourage easy switching between weapons.

Now as for why games like Call of Duty and The Conduit have assisted aim... I know of no excuses.

But many other players like it. Even here on this site.

So don't listen to anybody ?

There is a phenomenon on the Internet which combines an individual having a strong opinion about something, with the belief that the poster has a large audience, and with a need to have significance in the person's life, which results in an individuals posting something that says, in effect: "EVERYONE ELSE ON THE PLANET IS CLUELESS!  LISTEN TO ME, BECAUSE I HAVE THE ANSWER!"  This phenomenon exists in varying degrees, and the original post could be a sign of this phenomenon existing.

Anyhow, don't necessarily listen to my word about it, but I happen to think the controls are good on Red Steel 2 (I played it and own it) and think the graphics and game world are interesting.  Is it perfect?  No.  But I think it is good for what it is.  Anyhow, feel free to listen to me or ignore me.  I would recommend people at least rent it.

i was actually basing this thread more to the people on this forum than the reviews actually, a lot of people praised it like its the best experience that no one should miss.

You are free to disagree.  However, you set yourself up as THE authority regarding the game, by how you wrote that.  If you do it differently, and do position yourself as being contrarian, then you may get taken a bit more seriously.  As of now, you are a rare and lone voice about the game, and I don't know why your opinion should be considered superior to others actually, considering that I feel your opinion is wrong.

I agree with the OP, except I find the controls (once gotten used to) to be awesome and the gameplay to be mindless fun. Multiplayer would have been awesome..

lots of people praised this game to the roof, they called it one experience that shouldn't be missed and the gameplay is flawless, and the characters and storyline is amazing  well, did we play the same game here? =s

i am here to tell you, DO NOT BUY THIS GAME, if you see it, ignore it and buy something good like Metroid or Monster Hunter , this game is overrated , yes OVERRATED!

here is whats wrong with it.

-Motion Plus DOESNT WORK! , yes you know that motion plus ad on it? , well its useless , it doesn't work as well as Wii Sports Resort , to the point were you just waggle and wish wash everything in your way, even the armored guys can be taken out easily

-The Characters ... what characters? some Wax off wax on master who just sits there, and a girl with "boobiez!" who just tells you  or "please help them kill the jackals! " "Kill the jackals" "kill the jackals" and my favorite "The jackals , go kill them!"

-Storyline, you are a bounty hunter and you kill people and thats it.

-Challenge, the game is too easy, too easy that one the hardest difficulty you can take an army just by going in their back and stabbing them or do the "Hidden Strikes"

-the voice acting, "Haha! u gunna dai!" "i tark enrish becawz i are japanese" "Hey i got boobs you must obey! go throw yourself in the gangs hideout and kill them all!"

- the missions they are nothing interesting and they are all the same thing! , go kill those guys and go kill those guys, over and over and over again!

- Level design , go to this board and accept this mission now go to point x and finish it now go back and repeat , there is no exploration and the level is very linear and there is nothing interesting in it!

now the pros

-the graphics , did they give this game good reviews because of this? i can't believe it, good Graphics =/= good game! and this game proves it.

-The music , while everything is repetitive , the music is good, but you hardly listen to it with all the crappy voices =s

Well although I respect your opinion, I must say you mention something that is completely impossible.  It is almost IMPOSSIBLE to waggle in this game and win it.  I know I'm probably a much stronger person than you physically, and I TRIED very very hard to waggle and see if I couldmake a strong slash attack.  And I couldn't.  Majority of time it wouldn't even make a sword attack.

No indeed the motionplus does exactly what it is supposed to in this game.  Although not true 1:1, it does enough to make you replicate your sword attacks accurately and have the character on screen replicate them.  And somethign it prides it self on is being a full-body experience and thatis absolutely true after playing and beating the game.  Personally, I think it exceeds what the sword game did in WSR.  Although I still want that true 1:1 that is a bit to ask when you aren't physically similar to characters you'll be playing or as talented as they are.  RS2 is able to compensate that to still make your actions that you imitate as fluid as possible to match that on screen.  Controls work very well in this game to accomplish what they do.

Now maybe we are just going to disagree on that, but I don't know how far you have gotten into the game.  But that one point you made makes me think you need to give it a little more time.  Characters and voice acting though are a downside, but no worse than other games I've played... some that are consider big budget.  I won't name any, but I get used to "silly" voide acting in games.  Story, though, you haven't gotten far enough to see that there is more to what you are doing that meets the eye.  Missions, though like a lot of adventure games, sometimes do get repetitive.  However, the ability to play them all different (and the necessity in ease of beating them) gives them a very unique feel every time.  I almost never approached a battle the same way, and luckily for me it made the game much easier.  The game is about adapting to different battles and different enemies after you learn your new moves and attacks.  And then when you get to the later levels, combining them all into your skillset to be able to fluidly take down bosses.

So all I can say, is maybe it just isn't your type of game.  I thoroughly enjoyed it, although i did have my minor complaints of mainly the characters who seemed uninspired.  I would have also liked to have seen more exploration as you pointed out, but I did get lost in the areas I was in so maybe that wouldn't have been as good of an idea.

Guys...he is just trolling for attention

I've had the game for a couple days and I've reached the Kusagari tower and I'm enjoying the game a lot.

Sure the story and characters aren't all that great but the controls are the best on any console...ever. Only PC games have better controls.

I finished the game a couple of days ago, and if i'm completely honest, I probably regret buying it. I got really bored of it about half way through and only continued on because I wasn't sure how close to the end I was and wanted to get it out of the way and get my moneys worth out of it.

First of all let me say there were a couple of things I really liked about the game. I thought it looked beautiful, and not just for a Wii game. The controls were flawless IMO, didn't have any problems with them.

There were several things which lowered my enjoyment level, so I'm not even going to try and list them all, but what disappointed me most was the lack of variety, it seemed every area/level had the exact same structure to it, it felt like I was doing the same few missions and side tasks over and over for 10+ hours, just in different areas, which still manage to become old because you have about 4-6 missions in each area.

now i got to edit what i said about the motion plus i didn't mean that it doesn't work , its just that its not a huge difference from the waggle controls, you can finish lots of enemies with just doing that, but the heavy armored ones you just swing a bigger swing (or do Hidden Moves better)

what i mean't is that compared to Wii Sports Resort (which is TRUE Motion plus) , this doesn't work!

Well although you are right in a few ways about that, you have to understand the difference in what happens in WSR and what happens in RS2.  WSR, you essentially play a character on normal "sword" levels.  He can block and he can strike.  In Red Steel 2, you are playing a "master" of the sword.  He is very athletic, well-endowed in the use of techniques, and very active in how he does it.  Meaning, to get a system that works, there has to be some leadway between you and what happens on screen.  I know I can't do all the things that the character can, and for the most part I'd say almsot 99% of the people that play the game won't be able to do that.  However, in WSR, I'd say the majority could do that in holding up a "stick sword" and making simple slash attacks.

And that's really why there has to be difference in that between 1:1 control in the game.  Personally, I think from what it lets go from that and what it still allows you to do and "feel" like your actually doing it is nonetheless remarkable.  With some of the attacks there is your small delay, but from just doing it, and then assessing how that happens on screen it is very gratifying.

And I think this is one of the misconceptions a lot of people have with the "want" for 1:1 games.  It is very possible that it can exist (comes pretty close in this game and in WSR), but you have to start remembering that once you get that accuracy it must be understood that the player is not a jedi or samurai or master swordsman.  And WSR and Red Steel 2 both compensate for that in extroardinary and ingenius ways.  WSR which takes a more responsive aspect but focuses solely on hand to sword controls, while Red Steel 2 focuses more a full body experience that takes a little responsiveness off to give the user a more "imitation" of being an experienced swordsman and in this case a very powerful one.
