^yeah 'cause Sony won't cut costs but MS will...rolls eyes... also, Sony will launch a BUNDLE AIMED TO CASUALS FOR $350-$400 you say? MAJOR LOL! Look, you don't have to be a genius to know that won't sell. It's childish to think like that really. It makes no sense at all.

I'm glad you agree it won't sell.  I even figured in a $50 price cut for the low end $350 price point of a PS3 Move bundle.  That means even with some decent cost reductions you won't be seeing a $300 PS3 Move bundle.  No chance, I'm afraid, unless Sony wishes to take a huge loss again.

I think you need to pay closer attention. I grow tired of writing out detailed posts explaining the whole situation just to be misread and misinterpretted.  I obviously commented that Sony will cut costs with the RSX shrinking and the weight reduction, but those things will only push it to minor profit.

I agree with the majority of your thoughts on the matter, but I thought I should point out a couple things to you.

For one, regardless whether Sony made any changes to the PS3's hardware at all, it would be cheaper by the end of the year to manufacture than it is now. Such is the truth of the industry. Things are always getting cheaper. Not much change has been made to the blu-ray drive in the PS3 since it launched in 2006 I'd wager but it still costs Sony a fraction of what it did back then to include it in PS3s today. And this is true for the 360 and Wii too. It's not to say that 6 months of "cheapening" of the PS3 will amount to a huge savings, but it's worth pointing out to the newer members who don't seem to understand where costs are saved.

Another thing I'd like to point out is that it doesn't cost Sony $40 to manufacture a PlayStation Eye, or $60 for a game disc. Sony is making a healthy profit on assessory and game sales. There is no way that it costs Sony anywhere near $100 to manufacture an Eye, Move wand, and game so if Sony were to cut close to the line on profitibility with a 160GB PS3 + Eye + Move wand + Move game it isn't unimaginable that it could be either $300 or $350. However, your expectation of a $250 PS3 and a $350 Move bundles PS3 has me skeptical. Why would Sony waste their time with a more expensive SKU that has components that are the same cost as the bundle. If a PS3 is $250 and the seperate Move bundle is $100 and the bundle with both is $350, then whats the draw for consumers to purchase it? In the event of a $350 PS3 & Move bundle, I can guarantee you that there is going to be more to it than just a $250 PS3 and basic $100 Move bundle. It could come in the form of a 300GB HDD (Assuming that 250 becomes the "norm" by the end of the year), an additional game in addition to the Move game already bundled, a Navigation controller, or possibly even a second Move wand.

Move bundle will be $300...for chris' sake the Wii is already $200... they didn't come up with Move to sell it to more hardcore gamers, they want the Wii's audience, they won't bite for more than $300, pretty glowing bulbs or not.

Some food for thought, for the dreamers and prophets too:

That's some good speculation there

It all depends on whether Sony can afford a pricecut when Move is released. Considerring Sony only recently cut the price with the release of the Slim it'll be harder for then compared to Microsoft who haven't dropped the price for 2 yrs (when Natal is scheduled for release that is). If Sony can drop the price (even if it is just to $250), then I can see a Move bundle for $300. Not sure if they'll actually suceed in doing that though.

^yeah, it's speculation based on common sense.

I don't like Patcher or any analyst. All they do is make guesses and get payed for it, lots of people can do that.

The problem with your speculation gekkokamen is that you have a very limited understanding of the subject. You speculate that Sony can continue to operate at a loss as if this is a sound business plan. Its coming up to 5 years and Sony is the only one not making a profit on their hardware.

Sony already took a big hit when they introduced the Slim but had to cut 100 bones and still take a loss. Each quarterly statement shows Sony continue to take a loss bring their entire business down.

For some reason you believe that Sony can continue to do this just for market share. If the Move and Slim is bundled for 299, I will tip my hat to you but I would also wonder if Sony is willing to tank their company to gain markeshare. If MS is really sitting on a lot of cost cutting advantage over Sony, going doing a price war like this would hurt Sony way more than it will MS.

Now you're just borderline trolling. Using outdated sources and wild speculation that was done before the hardware behind Natal was even known.

Try some more recent, relevant sources

^outdated? there are articles there from this year. It seems it's from a very reliable source too. And you're trolling saying I'm trolling when I'm not.

What does that eurogamer article have to do with Natal costs? it doesn't mention any cost estimates at all. Stop the nonsense ok??
