@Kung Kras

cool thanks, that one is roughly around the low end of my budget, so I can afford something more.

Can you reccomend a good 2.5 + GHZ laptop?

@Ssenkahdavic

The ones you posted are good

but they seem to have a 1.6 GHZ processor, thats no enough for Mass Effect 2 according to specs :(

The laptop that sabestar listed seems pretty good. According to notebookcheck, the graphics card on it should have dedicated memory. And if starcraft is right about the i5 processors, then it seems really good power-wise. I would recommend it. It didn't say anything about HDMI though.

This is the laptop that I am using: http://www.elgiganten.se/product/data/barbar-dator/PADV62153EO/hp-pavilion-dv6-2153eo?Selected=Specifications#tProductTabcontent

HP Pavillion dv6-2153eo

(Sorry about the site being in swedish) It has about 2000Mb shared graphics memory and about 1000Mb dedicated. a 2.53Hz dualcore CPU and a HDMI out as well as some other weird looking ports on the side that I can't identify xD, I don't know if it's HDMI in or out though, or if HDMI ports work both ways. It also has 6Gb of RAM wich is a lot (Can be upgraded to 8).

This is what I found when googling "sony vaio i5 hdmi dedicated"

http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?catalogId=10551&categoryId=8198552921644659494&langId=-1&storeId=10151

http://www.bbspot.com/reviews/sony-vaio-laptop-with-intel-core-i5-processor-vpccw27fxl

these laptops seem pretty nice. I was too lazy to look for where they are sold though.

I kind of like this one, although I can't confirm if it's priced well or is able to play ME2. Can someone plz tell if it's good or not and why?

4 gig Max.  While not a HUGE problem, Id always prefer the option of more RAM especially when you are going to game.

But 4 gigs is a lot, since most games today require a minimum of 512mb or 1 gb worth of RAM. So I don't really think that would be much of an issue, although I agree having more is always better, but darth really doesn't need that much.

@KungKras, I don't know but I think it is better he stays away from HP laptops,  a few people told me that their products are not as reliable as one would would wish. Don't know about Vaio but it seems they're also not that good too (I relying on what darth said at the beginning lol so I don't know)

If you buy a quad-core (i7) laptop, bear in mind battery life will be under an hour when you play 3D games.

So you'll have to be prepared to plug it in all the time.

Personally I would get a dual-core (Intel's Arrandale) laptop with Mobility 56xx or 58xx graphics, because of their performance and low power consumption. AMD's CPU competition is underpowered and Nvidia's GPU competition consumes too much power.

I agree, 4 is plenty.  That was just the only thing seen (which you asked for :)

True hehe, I asked for it. Thanks for the advice ;)

@sabestar.

It's true, HP is ususlly not to trust when it comes to computers, Dell is even worse.
Acer and Asus are decent when it comes to laptops.

I showed my laptop because it has VERY good performance and features for its price. And looked up Vaio because it was mentioned in the thread

@Darth

If you google "asus (or acer or another reliable brand) i5 (or i7) dedicated HDMI" you should be able to find a good laptop. I get from re reading the OP that price isn't much of an issue. You should have no problem finding a good laptop with the features you want want in the price range that you mentioned. Just be careful when checking the spec lists. dedicated graphics memory is a must if you want to use it for gaming, and if you want it future-proof, the processor has to be more powerful than a 2.5 GHz dual core. (Wich the i5/i7 series should be according to other posters in the thread) If you are unsure about a processor or graphics card, copypaste it and google it. You should find descriptions about its power. If you can't find out if a graphics card has dedicated graphics memory or not, don't buy it, it likely has shared memory.

I'll look up some Asus or Acer laptops. Those are usually good.

Oh ok, cool then and yeah I totally agreewith you.   Darth, always try looking for Asus or Acer laptops, they're usually good performers.

A few posts up I spec'd out the 520M-i5s.  They are definitely good procs.  The combo of i5 + Ati will give you decent battery life.  In the last 4ish years or so, Acer has stepped up their game considerably.  I would never have considered them <5 years ago, but today they are much different.

The fact that it is cheaper than the ones I listed above, that extra money could go towards a Solid State Drive.
