If you buy a quad-core (i7) laptop, bear in mind battery life will be under an hour when you play 3D games.
So you'll have to be prepared to plug it in all the time.
Personally I would get a dual-core (Intel's Arrandale) laptop with Mobility 56xx or 58xx graphics, because of their performance and low power consumption. AMD's CPU competition is underpowered and Nvidia's GPU competition consumes too much power.
