microsoft is surely trying to save the xbox360 and show the japanese that the 360 is still alive to jump in by grabbing monster hunter fronteir it a mmo but still who would expect monster hunter on the 360 i didnt and if this is rumor is true microsoft trying to pull out the guns to increase japanese audences to switch to the xbox platform

If a TE Tales of Vesperia, Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Infinite Undiscovery, TE Eternal Sonata and a TE Star Ocean can't do it, I doubt a new Valkryie Profile game would.

There are only three RPG's of that ilk that could have a big effect, Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest and to a lesser extent Kingdom Hearts.

Agreed a Dragon quest and Kingdom hearts, Exclusive or Timed could turn the table around for MS in Japan, Dragon quest being one of the most popular franchise in japan

No worldwide it's also 4/1 according to this site.

And no, Japan has just better taste when it come's to consoles and games than the west, especially America.

And lol, they needed to dwarf the PS3 version of FFXIII and bundle and promote the Xbox 360 version like crazy in the west to reach those numbers, which aren't even close to the PS3 one's anyway. What would have happened with a PS3 bundle and equall promotion? I guess we will never know, but I think that the difference would have been tremendous.

You forgot to say IMO!   Spoken like a true fanboy congrats!  OH and FYI if you take out the Japan sales and just look at the west RoF sales on X360 were roughly 43,000 and PS3 RoF sales were roughly 61,000. 4/1 my ass!!

As for your bundle excuse all the people I know that got one (including myself) got it because of the 250 gig harddrive primarily and all of us already had the game preordered or planned to buy it on X360 anyways. So I doubt that many extra copies were sold on X360 over PS3 because of the bundle. It boosted console sales more than anything.

Why do you guys keep trying to take out Japan to make an argument in your favor. It's not like Japan isn't relevant to a JRPG

I would love to see a next gen VP. but when it comes MS and "exclusive JRPGs" I tend to get a little skeptical. but could mean a nice little spike for 360 sales in japan

to all those hating on square for backing the 360:

what do you want them to do, say no to money?

MS: ey square, you want a few million dollars to make a game (timed) exclusive for us?
Square: hm, but the 360 doesn't sell the types of games we make...

Square thinks for a minute.... : sales = money.. so we want sales.. but if they want to pay us for the money we would make anyway for sales....

Square: how much money is that again exactly?

think about it. sure they want to sell their game. but they only want to sell it to make money. if someone were to pay them the money they were going to make anyway from sales, why not? it's a hell of a lot better too coz the money is going to be there before development, so essentially square has nothing to lose.

I remember reading somewhere that Namco used MS' money to cut down the development costs for the PS3 version of a game since developing on the 360 was cheap and easy, so taking the timed exclusive route doesn't seem like a bad idea.

MS is doing a face palm right now lol

knowing MS and their strategy they probably offered SE to entirely finance and therefore get the exclusivity of the FFVII remake.

I wouldn't be surprised by this square enix and capcom has showed the 360 a lot of love this gen. And tri ace seems to prefer working on the 360. I hope there is a new Valkyrie Profile being made I would buy it and the breath of fire collection on day 1.

What he said was correct. Why did you call him a fanboy? Does it make you look better?

Question: Do you all believe that Star Ocean franchise failing is due to the timed exclusive stuff, or because the game was a steaming pile of donkey crap?

I personally feel that, sure, in Japan it would've sold alot more, but in the west, whether it was PS3 exclusive or multiplat out of the gate, it would still have sold like crap. The game was bad. The voice acting alone...ugh. I just can't see how the game could've sold as much as the PS2 one in the west unless the product they released was actually good.

Wow, a sequel to valkyrie profile would be awesome whatever the console it is on :). Not sure if its true yet, but surely Microsoft seems to have a very good relationship with Square nowadays so it can be true. I prefer the PS3 controller, but damn, valkyrie profile is so awesome that I dont really care lol.
