Just no. Its a phone.

Yes, officially now as well since Apple said they are. If you really think that the iPhone/iPod isn't at least a small competition, you are wearing "gamer goggles" and you can't see anything outside of your narrow definition of what gaming is.

It has no chance against the DS

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

Yes, but no at the same time.

They are competiting for marketshare of handheld gaming, but they aren't really taking anything away anything from the PSP or DS.

Iphone games are more in competition with mobile games and DSiware.

I think it was Sony with the PS2 who said that they weren't competing with other video game systems. Their competition was with television, movies, girls, or whatever else occupied people's time. I think the i-Phone is doing the same thing. It's competing with (or complimenting) everything. But me? I'm getting a Motorolla Droid!!

I really can't see the iPhone competing the DS or PSP. It just doesn't seem viable.

No, not yet. But if Sony make the PSP2 even more a multimedia device with only downloadable games, then yes, they'll compete. And PSP2 will fail, imo. I-something are just too powerful for direct competition.

No. Consider equivalency with the PC and console relationship. You don't have to have the same values to compete, but you need to really be offering a product to the same purpose.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

No. It's a phone that just so happens to have an open application OS and games are what's being made for it.

If the PSP or the DS was a phone (something everyone and their grandmother has), then they'd have *that* many more sales than they currently do
