To create this much hate for a product, they must be doing something right.

You really like your iPad don't you? O.o I'm going to check it out at the computer store in my local University myself.

I'd like to have an iDoor for my house...

It would be neat to have some kind auto3D thing separating each division. Would be transparent or pitch black when turned off...

sadly i can't say iCare

I don't have one yet. I have pre-ordered the 3G one, and it does not come out until later this month.

I spent some time at the Apple store playing with one, and a friend at my office has one that I have spent a few hours with.

And yea, the time I have spent using it is pretty amazing. What's even more amazing, is all the hate from people who have never touched one.

"Lord of the Rings is the worst fucking movie I have ever seen. It's shit. The acting sucks, and anyone who likes it is just a Tolkien fanboy who eats anything he shits out." - Reviewed by someone who has never seen the movie.

This is how I feel when I see all the hate for a product no one has to buy, that is not forced on anyone. I have no idea where all the rage comes from for a device some people enjoy.

I mean I ware a $2,000 Rado watch to work every day (the one in my avatar photo), and I have yet to see anyone online spew hate for Rado, because all the watch can do is tell time. I doubt anyone has walked away from me and said "fucking Rado fanboy. Doesn't he know his phone has a clock in it?"

All the hate for a company like Apple, that sells toys, is crazy.

O.o $2000 for a watch? I understand that value can be put on for fashionability or brands, but O.o

The main appeal I find with the iPad is that if it works just like the iPhone, it's a lot quicker and convenient to use than a Netbook or laptop.

The down side I find with the iPad is that... well... it works just like the iPhone. It would have been nice if they really upgraded the OS to differentiate it from its predecessor more.

That Rado watch will never be popular.

The Apple iCarpet, sold for $4000, probably would be. That's what gets people riled up. Apple could release a piece of paper with a logo on it, and retail it for $100, and it would still have enormous queues on launch day. Or so people think. I see quite the opposite happening, but that's for a different thread.

It's pricy, but it looks nice. It's the only piece of jewelry I own, and it's made out of ceramic. It looks as new as the day I bought it 5 years ago. It will look the same in 20.

As for the iPad, it's not just a big iPhone. The problem is if you have never played with one, that's going to be your impression (and I guess where all the jokes come from).

The iPad is to the iPhone, as the desktop gaming rig is to the netbook. Yea, they run the same os, but what you do on one you can't really do well on the other.

When you start playing with the apps, see how blazing fast the thing is, and look at the screen, you realize just how different it is. Some people might not like tablets in general, and for them there is just nothing a company can produce in that form factor that people will like. But if a Tablet seems like the thing for you, the iPad does it right.

Android will too if a hardware company can make something like the iPad. The Slate from HP is not near as good from a hardware perspective. If HTC or some other high end phone manufacturer made a tablet, I think they could make something that rivales the iPad.

Bringing a proven touch interface from something proven (like the iPhone) to something more capable was the right move. The last 12 years or so that tablet PC's have been out has proven that moving from the desktop down is not.

I have an iPhone and I like it a lot, but if I was going to make an iPad, I would design it for:

1) School. IDK if it has any office application, but if it doesn't at least have Word, then fuck that. Notepad is cool, but I will prefer an actual .Doc program

2) Net. From what you said about the iPad and VGChartz, it seems like it still uses the same Safari version. That's a big no, no for me. It HAS to have flash, it HAS to look and feel as close to the PC version of Safari.

3) Multitasking, and ease of transitioning from one program, to the next. I should easily be able to switch from Word, to Safari, and back to Word very quickly. I should be able to transition from iPod to any other app instantenously, without having to go out, restarting the other app, etc.

IDK, I would buy the iPad if it was cheaper, because I think that the ease of use really has value. I don't want to carry around a laptop, and start it up, wait for the OS to load up, etc. I think that there is where the true value of the iPad (if my assumptions and guesses are correct) lie, it's just faster to use and more portable, the corner stones of laptops/netbooks themselves.
