Whoa he called Will Wright... "Electronic Arts designer Will Wright." That's like calling Paul McCartney... "Wings frontman Paul McCartney."

So am I supposed to come out of that rant thinking it's a compliment or trolling? It was like reading 2 competing editorials at once. He even called it a "waggle box." I'm surprised he didn't make a duct tape joke. This is what I got out of it:

Intro: I display nothing but cynicism towards the Wii. They have too much shovelware, no games, and insist on pissing off true hardcore gamers.

Body: Finally, some awesome games for the hardcore. How weird and unusual. I'm having more fun with my Wii than the other consoles, and that's actually embarrassing to admit on the internet.

Conclusion: But Nintendo really does suck. A whole lot. Let me list all the things wrong with them. Also, you stupid haters should stop trolling Nintendo and play more Wii games. This is the year of the Wii.

Seemed pretty simple to follow to me. The Wii has had some problems with it's game library in the past, but this year changes all that in a big way. It still has some flaws as a system (you going to say the Online stands up to the other consoles?) but not having a wide range of great hardcore games isn't one of them.

Maybe if you sue some imaginary standard, but if you use the 360 and PS3 as the standard, than I believe that yes, it still is.

I never thought the Wii had a dry spell.  I don't know how many big budget full priced games people need to be happy.  I'm definitely not shelling out $50 a week to stay cool.  With motion-controlled games, IR-controlled games, balance-controlled games, analog stick-controlled games, 100% backwards compatibility (something neither of the competitors have) with GameCube games, the Virtual Console, and my favorite, WiiWare, I have consistently had too many games to play and never enough time to play them all.

And yeah, there are problems with the Wii.  But he talked about those for half his article, and then snuck in a compliment somewhere in the middle.  It was really weird.  It's like he's embarrassed to like it because he hates it so much.

I really don't know what you guys were reading but I think he was pretty much spot on.

I'm a huge Nintendo fan. Even with the games like Madworld, Little Kings Story, and the like its been a bit slow for the Wii. At least for me. The Wii's 2010 lineup is looking SICK.

I own a PS3 and a Wii and for me this year is the year of the Wii. Nothing, and i mean NOTHING, can compare to the trifecta of Mario, Metroid and Zelda in one year. Maybe some HD fans would dissagre. Hey thats fine. Its the year of the Wii for me maybe not so much for some others.

Oh Jim Sterling. What would Destructoid have to generate hits if not for your idiocy?

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I actually found this to be an interesting read. I have to agree with a lot of what he said. I only own a Wii and I'll admit that there have been prolonged periods when I haven't turned it on, but it's definitely seeing some action these days. (It doesn't help that I'm working full-time and going to school part-time, but whatever). There is definitely a lot to look forward to this year, and it was nice to really see someone highlight the 3rd party offerings first and put them front and center, while regulating the Nintendo 'trinity' to a kind of also-ran status. Some of these 3rd party games this year look simply awesome, and it's good to see them get some recognition!

The problem is that in 2010 all major Nintendo Ip will get into the Wii this is something that not gonna happen on 360 and on PS3...

Yeah this is dumb. Sony has GT, MS has Halo, NInty has Mario and Link. There will be 3 great years, one for each console. Not one. Just because Ninty has finally arranged a "hardcore", "acceptable" lineup doesn't make it magically "their year."

Dude, Sony's been talking that shi* every year since 06. "year of the PS3" Gimme a break lol.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

Wow, I'm not sure he could have crammed more backhanded complements into that article if he tried...

Waggle box? Really?

The sad thing is that if you looked around, there are similar games over the last two years that all of these people ignored.
The only difference is that there have not been as many at any one time.
