The Ghost of RubangB said: Whoa he called Will Wright... "Electronic Arts designer Will Wright." That's like calling Paul McCartney... "Wings frontman Paul McCartney."
So am I supposed to come out of that rant thinking it's a compliment or trolling? It was like reading 2 competing editorials at once. He even called it a "waggle box." I'm surprised he didn't make a duct tape joke. This is what I got out of it:
Intro: I display nothing but cynicism towards the Wii. They have too much shovelware, no games, and insist on pissing off true hardcore gamers.
Body: Finally, some awesome games for the hardcore. How weird and unusual. I'm having more fun with my Wii than the other consoles, and that's actually embarrassing to admit on the internet.
Conclusion: But Nintendo really does suck. A whole lot. Let me list all the things wrong with them. Also, you stupid haters should stop trolling Nintendo and play more Wii games. This is the year of the Wii. |
Seemed pretty simple to follow to me. The Wii has had some problems with it's game library in the past, but this year changes all that in a big way. It still has some flaws as a system (you going to say the Online stands up to the other consoles?) but not having a wide range of great hardcore games isn't one of them.

I never thought the Wii had a dry spell. I don't know how many big budget full priced games people need to be happy. I'm definitely not shelling out $50 a week to stay cool. With motion-controlled games, IR-controlled games, balance-controlled games, analog stick-controlled games, 100% backwards compatibility (something neither of the competitors have) with GameCube games, the Virtual Console, and my favorite, WiiWare, I have consistently had too many games to play and never enough time to play them all.
And yeah, there are problems with the Wii. But he talked about those for half his article, and then snuck in a compliment somewhere in the middle. It was really weird. It's like he's embarrassed to like it because he hates it so much.
