Forums - Nintendo - Anyone else wish Nintendo keeps their current launch prices?

They should, but I doubt that they will. First of all the 3DS will probably be more expensive to produce at launch, then the DS, if all the features are true ( 3D screen, rumble, tilt sensitive etc.). With the home console it depends a lot IMO on what the competition will price their system. I doubt that either MS or Sony will go above 400$ next gen. If the competition starts as low as 300$ they need the 250$, if not they could beef up the price to 300$. They are far more popular now then they where in 06, so they could afford it. Still it could hurt their marketshare in the longrun IMO.

I think 3DS will go on sale for 180,00 and at this point the DS-i will be 99.00 and DS lite 79.00

Nintendo could u please just take my money and give me back my 3DS?!

I think you'll see the 3DS priced a bit higher like the DSi XL.

Theres no telling what Nintendos next home console may be, pricing or otherwise.  I'd expect them to keep things targeted at the mass market though, so if there is still an in tact global economy when/if Nintendo launches another console $299 is probably the ceiling.

I sure as heck hope so, too. If anything, they should've learned from Sony's mistakes this gen.

I think they will launch at $300+, due to inflation it's going to be harder to pack in features at $200. People are more than willing to pay that price for a new console, look at PS2. Plus Nintendo can always drop the price later.

Nintendo needs a powerful system next gen, period. The Wii remote got them through this generation amazingly well, but I don't see another revolution of this caliber coming next gen. If it has the same power as a PS3, you will once again see developers devoting their worst teams to make PS3/ Wii 2 games while the other consoles get the larger focus. It doesn't need to be a powerhouse, but for $300 in 2011 you could buy a system that is orders of magnitude more powerful than a PS3.

yeah, they need a console prepared for the future to get the main third party games of the other 2. I think $300 USD y the power enough for that.

I think 3DS will be about $199-$229 and the next Wii will be $299, which certainly seems reasonable (especially if there's a packed-in game included, which there probably will be).

Bah!

3DS won't be more than $199, anything more is just too much for handheld in the mainstream in my opinion. The successor of the Wii has some room from $250-300, but I don't see much more than that with Nintendo's ideals.

3DS will be $250 max, and the new Wii will be $300 max.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.
