Doe she specifiy which numbers are wrong?

They do track them if they come from Japanese retailers though. I think it was generally assumed the source of the near quarter million figure was referring to all Asian sales though (JP, HK, KR, etc), and it's 180k in Japan alone already.

He doesn't say "wrong", no. He says inaccurate or approximated, which isn't quite the same thing. And knowing Riley, I wouldn't give him anyway leeway, he was clearly disingenuously damage controlling. As usual. ;)

Because its impossible to think that VC & DS have actually sold as well as they have!!

It's at all not impossible. It's just... well... pretty unlikely. More for Valkyria though, I think Demon's Souls is much more likely to be closer to VGC totals and if not will likely hit those sorts of figures anyway in time.

Soriku, you probably missed the thread about Demon's Souls sales that Jarrod posted a week ago which referenced the exact same article that Gamespot news story is now incorrectly attributing to Atlus. It's pretty clear that Sony was only listing their own sales data, which would include the Japanese versions and some Asian versions, as far as I know.

Atlus hadn't even released their good financial news yet, when the article appeared.

And by the way, one thing I haven't heard in DS sales discussions which just occurred to me:

Demon's Souls sold out when it hit the US according to news articles from when the game was released. If VGC knows the size of the first shipment, it shouldn't have been that hard to get a fairly accurate first week.

I'm assuming we don't have first shipment data for US releases?
