Microsoft. Relying on third parties The PS2 to PS3 transition showed what a good investment that was for Sony in the previous gen. Arrogance and weak first party.

Sony. Arrogance, inability to innovate, weak first party.

Nintendo. Hated by third parties. Failure to deliver on motion control content promise. (Since the Wii launch, I'm STILL waiting for an awesome sword fighting and archery game in a fantasy world or an awesome lightsaber game. FU lucasarts!)

so much fail in a single post.

as a matter of a fact this whole thread is full of fail.

Where did I fail?

Your failure point was probably when you said Sony have a weak first-party; Sony has the largest first-party in terms of developers than Nintendo or Microsoft (possibly put together). They probably release more titles than any of the big 3, although with the Wii being much cheaper and easier to develop for Nintendo could still hold that. However, virtually all of Sony 1st party titles are big budget (or present themselves as big budget) games.

Current problems:

MS:
- Inability to differentiate themselves from the PC, and ultimately scrapping all PC development because of it.
- Charging for online driving possible customers away
- Over-charging on peripherals etc. Especially the Wi-Fi adapter; a current console should have both LAN and Wi-Fi options. This may come back to bite them in the arse in later gens.
- Too much copy protection on DVDs taking too much space for developers. Going with DVD was fine but when the discs have less space than PS2 and Wii discs on an HD console it starts to become problematic.
- PR can sometimes come off as arrogant when the company has yet to "win" a gen

Sony:
- Very bad advertising this gen, although improving there's not really enough when MS have massive barrages of adverts.
- Some very silly mistakes like this clock thing recently.
- Loss of 3rd-party exclusivity on numerous PS2 franchises
- Is Arc really that impressive? After Natal the hype meter is very low in the general public.

Nintendo:
- Terrible online service. I don't understand how Nintendo can make such wonderful and easy interfaces yet when you go online it fails so horribly.
- Lack of a LAN port
- Have failed to show 3rd-party's why they should be producing core games on Wii.

Sony- PlayStation network lacks private chat, and they don't make all their shooters coop (Uncharted is fine non-coop).

Microsoft- They need to buy more studios and stop paying third parties so often, and I hate avatars.

Nintendo- they live in the 80's and don't create new IP's. The lack of HD graphics in their current console as if this was still the ps2 era.

Compared to Nintendo its a terribly inadequate first party. Nintendo released about the same time and got Wii Fit, Wii Fit+, Mario Kart, SMG, NSMB, LOZ, SSBB, Metroid Prime, Wii Sports, Wii Sports resort, Wii Music, Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem out the door whilst Sony have yet to release any of their big games from their 1st party from last generation and have failed to sell even one game over 5M copies. So yes its a fair point to say that the Sony first party are weak compared to Nintendo in terms of effect.

Do you know what its like to live on the far side of Uranus?

Wii Sports Resort showed how motion controls can deliever, son. Super Mario Galaxy did it, and will Zelda Wii do the same.

What a narrow minded post! Nintendo's Wii serie is a true example of a new IP that succeeded in every way (sales, innovation...)

And the lack of HD graphics makes Nintendo focus on the gameplay, and Galaxy on VGChartz is the highest rated game with beautiful graphics, son. Graphics doesn't matter if the gameplay is deep and fun.

I know that they have many studios. And that they release plenty of games.

But I think all those studios and games are weak. Their games just blends in with all other games and does little to push hardware. It's only this generation that Sony first party has been tested to be able to carry a console, and it just barely did the job. That's pathetic for a company with two previous console generations on their record. IMHO (Not to say that they don't make good games)

I have huge hopes for Zelda Wii. That may finally be the sword fighting game that I have been waiting for. But still, the Wii sports series are the best games to showcase the Wii motion controls, and they are launch games (Resort is for M+)

I want some other games than those to entertain me with motion controls. I'm not saying that the tech failed. I'm saying that the software that I bought the Wii for hasn't been provided yet.

I LOVE ICELAND!

Sony - No monopolies to take advantage of, participates strictly in highly competitive markets.
Microsoft - Lack of vision, too much propaganda.
Nintendo - Its strongest point is IMO also its weakest, kiddy reputation and orientation.
