Forums - Sony Discussion - Teletext : Heavy Rain Review (Abysmal)

Yeah. HR has several moments where you have to get something from the environment or explore (ie: get the right medications to help an injured person or get a person what they want opposed to what they need). And it doesn't have a traditional inventory system. Your inventory is "choices". I played a scenario twice last night. The video I saw online ended peacefully. The scenario I played ended in someone's death. I replayed it and switched a few things around and it ended in an ass kicking! I thought it would be a linear experience (ie: press this at this time for this to happen). It's probably the most non-linear game I own. Mass Effect lets you change parts of the game (I barely played ME 2 to see how different things can get) HR lets you change the whole game!

this game isn't going to go down with alot of gamers though is it,that's obvious

i like point and clicks, always have and this is what this is really,a fancy point and click with co-ordinated QTE along the way

i would never of expected this game to get a higher than average review 70-80 would be what i would have thought which is good enough for me

maybe the teletext guy has two left hands and is cross eyed

^^^I'm not talking about the demo scene. I'm talking about the convenience store. The difference between "Get out of here and go to your family" and "Oh shit! He shot that guy in the head!" There are times when there is little or no consequence. Then, there are times when the whole story changes because you looked inside of a closet instead of under a bed. It's amazing.

Oh, and I played the demo repeatedly. I was disappointed at first. Even in the real game, I got some different results from choices I made in the demo.

I think the problem with the demo is that it doesn't have enough scenes to see how things can change based on your actions.  Sure you can just leave and not help the hooker, but that doesn't seem like a meaningful choice unless you see how that affects the game as a whole.  Of course if they added enough scenes to see the changes in the overall story it would probably be revealing too much for a demo so I don't think they should've done this, I just think that alot of people are coming away from the demo thinking your choices don't matter at all because they're only able to look at a single scene.

Yeah, I left without helping that hooker in the demo just to see what would happen.  She screamed while I walked away.  "Lame", I thought.  In the real game, the differences in your choices (maybe not that particular scene, though) carry much more weight.  And you see the results of making the wrong choice.  Plus, most of the times, NONE of your choices are going to end up in a good way.  This game really messes with you and your sense of morality.  Plus, as an ex-cop myself, I did some things that I would actually do in real life in this game.  It didn't turn out so well.......(and I'm not talking about the sleazy hotel OR the convenience store......).

Well... After watching a friend play Fahrenheit and Heavy Rain... Barely anything has changed. It does feel one dimensional, boring, and uncreative. Hell i dont consider this "game" nor the other one a game.

Your from UAE? You know Heavy Rain was ban there. It means that your friend imported it and received it the same day, and you had enough time to tried it. Can you show me how to make my own teleporter too?

Don't be stupid I can find that game in any Un-Official shop that sells games here. I know i wouldn't find it at Geekay. Besides if you think I'm lying go to youtube and type in LastRambo34(one) (sorry my one key is busted). He's the guy that has the game, and some other guys that I know also have it. This world isn't really hard to get through... =_= illegally that is... Especially in UAE.

Edit: I don't think the score should be THAT low just to make my self clear. I just don't enjoy games like these... I don't like most games anyway.

Ok sorry, next time I will give you benefit of doubt. I really wanted to make my own teleporter tho :(.

Note to self: Next time Kowenicki goes on a spree against inFamous, recheck his trophies online. He hasn't even played inFamous. It would say 0% if he even touched the game under his profile....wtf?

Haha, much rep to you sir!

In other news, Teletext have just reviewed White Knight Chronicles. It's a disappointing game, sure, but is it really so bad as to merit a 4/10?

*SIGH*

My one big Heavy Rain gripe: VGChartz showed me a pic of full female nudity. When I got to that scene, that poo-nanny was blocked by a whine glass!!! I want to see some digitally created nudi-......wait. There's a website for that!!

*goes to that website*

He's joking about the Lost game, right? Right? Bad. Love Lost. Seen every episode multiple times. All of them.

That game was a major disappointment.

No, I'm not joking in any way at all.

I would rather watch six hours of Dane Cook than play through that game again.

-edit-

And yes, I'm am a giant Lost fan.  I've watched every season multiple times and Lost is about the only show that I will watch Live.  When I'm bored, I actually read Lostpedia.  Hell, I even read it when I'm not bored.

As an even bigger LOST fan, I have to say that the game is very enjoyable.
