When will 360 start to outsell PS3 WW in 2010?

Eh, no PS3 launched at 49,980 yen.  Equivalent to $585.79 today.  Or about $40 more, not near "twice the price".

And Wii's held better than expected.  Honestly, current Wii sales are more what I expected PS3 to be at this time (35-40k).

lol.  Did you read your own quote?  I'm not seeing "twice the price" anywhere, but I do see "49,980 yen"!

I am going to sleep, but nice one ignoring the 60, 000 yen PS3 which was the one Sony actually made availble at launch and was the true version. But, I did not expect you to see it.

I'm not ignoring anything, but then I'm not making up any "true version" nonsense.  If 20GBs were really not "actually made available" I wonder why retailers started price slashing them not even two months after launch...

 

Again, price wasn't PS3's problem in Japan.  Never has been, the problem is games.

The 65% of the voters in this poll will be eating crow very soon. 360 has more exclusive games than the PS3 in 2010. Natal and more price cuts in 2010. PS3 will remain at the same price point and has Gran Turismo 5 and God of War 3- two possible console sellers. We all know that price cuts are the biggest driving force behind system sales in older systems. Final Fantasy 13 is multi-platform and will sell well in NA region for the 360.

Yeah the 20 gig was more of a factor in Japan than in the west, they had it in stock and didn't drop the model nearly as early.  Hard drive space is generally not as important for the Japanese gamers as well, downloading games is not nearly as popular. 

Using an today's exchange rate and comparing it with yen in the past isn't the way to compare prices, even though the yen is really strong it is not that much of an issue inside Japan.  You should be comparing it by price+inflation.  If you want to go back a few years it was like 140 yen to 1 dollar, it has gotten around something like 85 yen to the dollar now, that doesn't mean that inside Japan things cost that much more.  I've experienced this firsthand in Japan and Korea.

Either way though i agree with your conclusions, Japan has shown that price isn't the problem

That's a hard case to make, especially with Twisted Metal recently confirmed as a holiday title.

Just look at the first quarter:

MAG
White Knight Chronicles
Heavy Rain
MLB 2010: The Show
Yakuza 3
God of War III

vs

Mass Effect 2

The 360 performs nicely around the middle of the year, with Spliner Cell, Alan Wake, and Crackdown, but things even back out around the end of the year when the ps3 gets Gran Turismo 5, the Last Guardian, and Twisted Metal vs Halo: Reach and Fable III.

Even if you want to look strictly at the total number of games, this is the first time this generation that the ps3 has the larger release list numerically (according to GameStop), mainly because the ps3 has numerous niche Japanese games (3D Dot Game Heroes, Ar Tonelico 3, The Last Rebellion) to balance out the 360's many PC/360 ports (Metro 2033, Supreme Commander 2, Divinity II).

It's impossible to claim that one lineup is bigger/better than the other, from either a subjective standpoint or a commercial standpoint.

By starting i meant as in outsell the PS3 in a week worldwide.

So for the first 6 weeks of this year the PS3 has outsold the 360 wordwide in each of those weeks.

The question is basicaly asking when do you think the 360 will win a week ahead of the PS3.

So to clarify we are not talking about the yearly total gap i.e how much more 1 console has sold over another for the entite year.
