Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony registers "MotorStorm3"

TheGamingLiberty

It appears that the domain Motorstorm3.com is registered to Sony Computer Entertainment Europe. Curiously www.motorstorm3.com takes you directly to Sony’s Official Playstation Website. So with that, I ran a quick Who Is search and sure enough, www.motorstorm3.com was created by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe on the 19th of January 2010 with an expiry date listed for the 19th of January 2012. It looks like Motorstorm 3 could therefore be on the way to Playstation 3. Motorstorm 3 would be the fourth game in the franchise after the original Motorstorm, sequel Pacific Rift and PSP incarnation Arctic Edge. Hopefully we might get an E3 reveal.

Glad to see the guys at Evolution are being given another shot at this franchise.  After the sales of the last one, I wasn't sure it'd be coming back.

Maybe if they give this one more time in the oven (which they seem to be doing, as it hasn't been announced yet) and market it better, it'll sell better than the last.  Pacific Rift was a nice improvement over the first in many areas, but it still felt quite rough around the edges.  For all the improvements they made to the graphical engine, the low res ground textures and lack of AA brought down the overall look, imo.  I didn't have enough hands on time to really comment on the gameplay, but I haven't heard any bad things on that front.

at least they are spacing this one out from the previous one unlike motorstorm 2. They may have already hurt the franchise a lot by releasing the second one so quickly and the psp one got no attention. They better get their marketing teams working on this one.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

Motorstorm 2 really did need more dev time, though the game play was spot on. Having been merged with one of Sony's most underrated devs (IMO), hopefully we'll see the next one shine.

MotorStorm 2 was made in a bit over a year and a half (March 08 > October 09).  That just goes to show that at minimum two year dev times for big budget ps3/360 games are a must this gen.

This makes me wonder why so many people want to see Killzone 3 at the end of this year.  Especially with all the rumors backing up the idea, I can't help but fear the game would befall a similar fate to Pacific Rift, as it'd be following a similar dev cycle.  Unless it's true that they had just about finished the game by October or so, and Sony simply delayed it for marketing reasons, in which case a Killzone 3 could very well manage that two year minimum.  But even then...

Also, given the studio's recent restructuring, the fate of the Wipeout guys is still unknown.  =(

Sony really wants Motor Storm to be a hit for some reason. The two PS3 games were heavily bundled. Arctic Edge was a bomb. Unless MS3 is truly unique, I don't understand why they're even bothering.

Well they certainly had plenty of polishing time. If they don't focus on the engine at all, as it is still the best looking shooter, as they are a large studio (around the same size as Insomniac I think). They also don't need to do much with the multiplayer, just a better single player

I love the Motorstorm games,they're just...badass

I don't get the Ms:PR hate the game was good imo if only a little hard for me x_x and the demo of AE was just as fun

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

Thank god the motorstorm franchise continues. One of the few racers I do enjoy.

YES!!! Introduce bulldozer in MS3!!!
