What makes you think the Wii will stop selling after 2-3 years, whereas the NES, SNES, PS1 and PS2 all sold millions after their successors were released?

Dammit! I'm just gonna have to admit after looking at the Wii's sales, the Will will surpass the PS2. I knew PS2 would be surpassed but I didn't think that it would take on gen for that to happen. Damn.....sighs..................this thread is a EPIC FAIL! I hate this.

I think people will be surprised this year for the Wii, personally. I honestly this it will track higher than last year. This year and next year for the Wii are looking to be its strongest years in software yet, so hopefully this year the Wii will show a YOY increase.

I doubt it. It will sell on par. Though yoy increase will happen in Q3 an Q2. but Q1 and Q4 will be down

The Wii is a new breed though. Who knows how long the console can last after the next Nintendo console is released.

Wait what? the PS2 sold 120 million as far as i know, the DS already beat it and the Wii is right capalbe of beating too, not to mention... hon earth is the PS2 going to sell 10 millions in one year and the Wii 30 million on 3 years, it makes no sense

The PS2 has sold 142 M

 

the DS might not get to a number much higher than that.. because its hardware sales are beginning to hit the market saturation point.. you can tell since its down almost severily year over year..

 

not only that, but with the rumors of a new nintendo handheld.. if they really do release one, they will kill of the DS rather quickly like they did the GBA.

I still think that if nintendo doesn't end the DS, or announce a sucessor in 2010, it has a likely chance of outselling the PS2.

The NES, Super NES, Nintendo 64 and the PS2 all had one thing in common. None of their successors had backwards compatibility.

The PS2 is still selling units because the PS3 is still pretty expensive. When the next Nintendo console is released i believe it will be backwards compatible and cheap enough.

This of course is unless Nintendo keeps the Wii around as a "Third Pillar"

The P.S.2 has not sold 150Million as I know it has sold about 140-145 Million. Also I think that the Wii will sell more this year than last year and its even possible for 2008.
