not dying, but going downhill and more and more unimportant

So far more people think PC gaming is dying than not. Interesting.

PC gaming is not dying, but it is changing. Developers are focusing more on consoles now because they sell more and PC gamers often just get the ports.

I don't really think so, especially with Valve's financial results from Steam. But it doesn't seem to me that many devs these days aren't willing to go for big budget PC exclusives due to fear of piracy. (Just look at what Ubisoft did with Assassin's Creed II, a very silly move)

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

Shifting more in terms of genres and use. Clearly there's been a big swing to consoles with a number of genres, but a lot of gaming still takes place on PCs, and not just Solitaire either!

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

I seriously believe if publishers would release the digital download statistics of their products people would stop asking this question. PC isn't dying, just changing.

I believe it will continue having the best RTSs, MMOs, FPSs and the biggest community of online casino gaming.

Thats true. I recently noticed Microsoft trying to upstream their gamers with 'Hearts' and 'Chess Titans'. Do you think its going to work?

OT: Well I just bought Mount and Blade and the THQ collections on Steam for $55 U.S.D. which nets me:

  • Company of Heroes + expansions (arguably the best RTS of recent memory)
  • Dawn of War 1 + expansions
  • Dawn of War 2
  • Titan Quest + expansion
  • Saints Row 2
  • S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
  • Red Faction: Guerilla
  • Mount and Blade
  • + 5 other titles I may or may not play.

So I got 8 titles I wanted for $80 in my currency. By comparison would I have been better off paying $130 of my currency for say just Heavy Rain or God of War 3?

Tease.

I fully agree with you.

The PC game industry is dying a painful death, and as a direct logical result, PC gaming itself is thriving.

The big budget PC hardcore is dead, but this was the cost for gaming itself becoming more mainstream, and ensue survival.

When the console hardcore will be gone, what will carry the torch for console gaming? Nintendo?
