Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Sakamoto talks Other M to Famitsu

metroid prime 3 was a bit weak on the story side (it's the only one I've played, so I can't judge the others in the prime series). Hopefully MoM will have a stronger storyline.

GLEEE! cant wait

"However, different from the rest of the series, this time we're strongly depicting the human side of Samus through such things as movies. She's a strong woman, but she also has a fragile side. We want to make a game whose charms can be felt from the story areas and these human touches as well. It's an action game, but it's capable of having a clear emotional side."

This... actually really worries me. >_>

Can't wait for more info, however.

So... who really plays Metroid for the plot? |:

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

I like my games to have a good plot and strong characters.  This adds to the experience for me and really gets me involved in the game in a way that doesn't let me stop playing, much like a good book.

You may not find such trivial matters to be such a big part of the experience but there are many players who do.

I'll buy it if it is more like super matroid and less like prime

I'll just re-iterate the guess I made on the news thread for the sake of conversation:

Imagine you're playing Super Metroid, but instead of your shots being aimed in one of the D-pad's eight directions, you can aim anywhere you want with the pointer, completely independant of your movement.

IR aiming isn't just for FPS/FPA games.

I haven't read the OP... but is this just your speculation or are we sure the 2D sections will be like that.... because screwing around with only 4 (or 8) shooting directions will not be my idea of fun.... and is not quite a deal breaker but if a good portion of the game is like that I would re-consider.

2D IR aiming would be awesome.

That'd be cool. Though that'd also be kind of... too easy, maybe.

Try playing Abuse (with hordes of aliens). It's a gametype I've been waiting to be ported from the PC, maybe Metroid can be it.

What little video we have is so chaotic, I'm not even entirely sure if much gameplay will take place in a 2D plane. But after playing LostWinds and NyxQuest, I know I like having a pointer with my 2D platformers now.
