I'll just re-iterate the guess I made on the news thread for the sake of conversation:

Imagine you're playing Super Metroid, but instead of your shots being aimed in one of the D-pad's eight directions, you can aim anywhere you want with the pointer, completely independant of your movement.

IR aiming isn't just for FPS/FPA games.

I haven't read the OP... but is this just your speculation or are we sure the 2D sections will be like that.... because screwing around with only 4 (or 8) shooting directions will not be my idea of fun.... and is not quite a deal breaker but if a good portion of the game is like that I would re-consider.

2D IR aiming would be awesome.

What little video we have is so chaotic, I'm not even entirely sure if much gameplay will take place in a 2D plane. But after playing LostWinds and NyxQuest, I know I like having a pointer with my 2D platformers now.
