So first of all, this should have been a free update.
Secondly the price for this is absurd for the little bit of additions that we are currently getting.
The final nail is that in some countries this looks to be a GKC release. Ridiculous.

The old Atlus method. Eh, at least it's not full price for those that want it. Do you have the original and want to get the update/discouraged by the price, or just pointing it out?

Well, all games/ports made by Koei Tecmo for Switch 2 except the new Hyrule Warriors is gkc (even Pokopia), so this dont surprise me at all.
Why do I get the feeling that all the countries that are getting the GKC is in Europe?
Guess I have to import it. Lazy and greedy publishers are making things more complicated than it should be.
Huh? There's not going to be an upgrade pack because it's not a "switch 2 edition"...
Because then the solution would just be buy the SW1 cartridge and the upgrade if you don't want GKC.
Meh.
Edit: $30 upgrade for SW1 owners oof. It does include all DLC though, but if you already bought the DLC you still have to pay $30 so kinda screwed the most loyal fans over lmao.

I do have the original, though I don’t think I’ll pick this up, unless there’s another dlc sized content included. But also pointing it out, for those who didn’t know. Though it sounds like in the US where I live, will get full cart, it’s just annoying for everyone as it eats up valuable storage space that’s extra expensive now.
$30 upgrade is insane, yeah.
And obviously physical media keeps getting sidelined into oblivion day after day.
Game Key Cards were a mistake. Why not put the damn game on an actual Switch 2 cartridge?

They're a necessary evil because Nintendo chose a very expensive physical format. Many publishers would likely have gone code-in-box or digital only with switch 2 if key cards didn't exist.
Nintendo charged publishers $15 for a 64GB cart compared to a 100GB BDXL Blu-ray being more like $2.
Because of the nand price crisis those 64GB carts probably cost Nintendo at least $20 to make now, so Nintendo may infact be losing money selling them to third parties if they haven't changed how much they charge them.
A slower cheaper physical storage that had mandatory installs would have been the better play to get releases with the data on cart/disc.
