A new 3D game in the Kirby series is coming to Switch 2 next year:
Still need to play Forgotten Land and pretty much every post-SNES Kirby, but this looks good. I'm a little surprised they immediately moved past the 'Mario 3D World' style of the last game for something much more open instead of doing 1 more game in that style.
Definitely the star of the show. I probably won't play it at launch, hell I STILL haven't played bananza, but it's definitely added to my list to play some day.
If you told me the 3D Mario release cycle of the most recent games was a new game in 2017, an enhanced port with a new side campaign in 2021, two 3D Kirby games and a 3D Donkey Kong game all with 3D Mario not coming out until at least 2027 I would say you probably belong in a strait jacket for such a wild prediction.
It's clear Nintendo is giving other characters a time to shine in 3D platformers.
I haven't played Forgotten Land yet, so I will play that before I get this game.

It pains me to say it, because I have always loved Kirby and I had a great time with The Forgotten Land... but I don't care about this. At all. I don't need or want an open world Kirby. I'm tired of Nintendo trying to make everything open world. They just transitioned Kirby into 3D in a sorts of Mario 3D World gameplay style that I think suited the series identity perfectly. They have plenty of room to explore that type of game. But noooo... let's slap Kirby into an open empty world, just because we can.
Bigger is not always better, and in the case of Kirby, a more intimate level design is tons better.

Damn, what a surprise. This looks very ambitious compared to forgotten land. Definitely looking forward to this.

Is it safe to say Forgotten Land is more like Super Mario 3D World and World Beyond is like Odyssey? At least based on the little footage so far?

I adored Forgotten Land, so if this can recapture that same charm and sense of wonder with an even bigger playground, we're in for a treat.
I'm okay with IPs embracing larger worlds, for all we know they may have wanted to make this before but simply not had the power on tap to pull it off to the level of quality they wanted. HAL usually deliver so I'm optimistic it'll be great.
