Many will say Sonic 3 & Knuckles is the peak of the classic 2D Sonic trilogy, others will say Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage is the peak of the PS1 Spyro trilogy,… yet I always find myself gravitating toward the first as being the best. In the case of classic 2D Sonic, PS1 Spyro, the modern Donkey Kong Country duology, and so forth.

What about you? When do you most often perceive a trilogy as having “peaked”?

Good question!

A lot if my favourite trilogies peaked at #2; Mass Effect, Uncharted, Gears of War, Killzone, Bayonetta.

On the other hand, I thought Bioshock, Dead Space, Halo, Xenoblade, and Metroid Prime peaked with their first entries, and Spyro, Crash, and Super Mario Bros peaked with part 3.

In my 30 plus years of playing SEGA games this is the first time hearing Sonic 3 and Knuckles is considered peak. It was always Sonic 2. Mark Cerny and Co did an amazing job. The most I hear about 3 is MJ helped with the music and the add on. Fine game but it wasn't Sonic 2. Gears of War peaked at 3 tho. ZOE has 3 games. 2 mainline and a handheld game. Peaked with 2. The Data east Fang series. Wolf Fang is clearly the best.

Hahaha i liked dmc2 but yea its by far not as good as 1 and 3..

Actraiser peaked with actraiser 1 but i liked actraiser 2 as well.

So i guess for me its 1

Streets of Rage 2 was the peak of the original Streets of Rage/Bare Knuckles trilogy.
