Perhaps I’m comparing apples to oranges, but as somebody who thoroughly enjoyed playing through CO:E33 and has always wanted to play FFVII Remake/Rebirth, I’m curious what the consensus on VGChartz might be.

(I also came across this thread on RE…  my curiosity is piqued!)

Minute to minute Rebirth was more refined and flesh out gameplay wise and in terms of world building.

Story and core combat I have to give it Clair Obscure. I really disliked Rebirth lack of focus and very convoluted ending.

Ultimately the one that left a bigger impression on me was Clair Obscure. The FFVII Trilogy has become too self indulgent & anime-like for my personal taste.

I played the demo for Clair, it seemed alright. Even though I canceled my Gamepass, I find it hard to convince myself to buy a game that is free on Gamepass. I'll probably play it one day, maybe if it comes to PS+. Rebirth was fantastic, really enjoyed the game.

I thoroughly enjoyed both of them and i do think both are fantastic in what they do

If i had to choose id say id give E33 the edge, cause i do feel FF7Rebith, for obvious reasons, goes to many familiar places. Whereas the writing, art style and soundtrack make E33 feel much fresher and new - tho i do prefer Rebirth's mixed combat style much better,

Both are excellent games at their core. FF7 Rebirth had more random filler but left me a lot more satisfied. Either way I'd say Remake is better than both of them.

It's like comparing 3D Mario to 3D Zelda. You can explore in both games but the mechanics are both very different. Most would choose Zelda, and most would choose CE33 when in critical acclaim mindsets. Then in other instances most would choose Mario, and most would choose FF7R for the enjoyment factor. But they are both very good games regardless.
