While we didn't get one at launch, I still remember the wow factor of first playing this console; the fully textured and solid three dimensional worlds felt like something from the future.

From Ocarina of Time, to Mario 64, to Banjo Kazooie and Tooie, Goldeneye 007, Perfect Dark, Diddy Kong Racing, Mario Kart 64, F-Zero X, Star Wars Rogue Squadron, Starfox 64, and more, it brought us some of the most unforgettable and epic gaming adventures of the 90s, and pushed gaming forward with some of the most revolutionary titles of all time.

Anyone else have one back in the day, and if so, what are your favourite memories of it?

I never had easy access to a N64 growing up. Jumped from SNES to the Gamecube and most of my friends had a Playstation. So I mostly played N64 games emulated on PC. Looking back it is strange that good emulation was so early for N64. My best memories of games from the system is playing Super Smash Bros with my best friend, hour after hour, even if it was emulated.

When I finally got a real N64 system around the same time Wii was released I played mostly Pokémon Snap on it. The Zelda games I played on Gamecube instead and for some reason Mario 64 was never my game and FPS has never been my genre so 007 I have not even tried.

The controllers form factor is something I kind of like. With 3 different type of grips it worked for many type of games. The control stick was revolutionary and complete crap at the same time. 5 hours off Mario Party and it gave up.

I only played N64 at my cousin's growing up, and then through emulators from around 2004 or so. I eventually bought an N64 in about 2014 lol.

Diddy Kong Racing might be my favourite game on the system. That along with MP2/3 is what I played on it most.

Oh man, don't get me started. Or, really, do get me started, because I love reminiscing about N64. I already made my tribute ~5 years ago (I'll add the link below) so I'll just say that N64 arrived at the perfect time in my young career as a gaming enthusiast, and cemented my love for the medium. Because of that, and because of the friendships I formed while playing on it, N64 will always be my favorite system.

I really enjoyed mine back in the day. In 96, it was my second year of Law School, so my playing time was limited and I never noticed any of the "droughts" people would talk about later on. Loved Mario, but my real first WTF moment came from Turok (what a way to start the generation - it was SO immersive). And the games were usually loooonger than they were back in 16 bit era. I had a blast, and Goldeneye is still my fondest multiplayer experience memory to this day, along with Mario Party and DK Racing. All that, no loading time, no bullshit with CDs scratching and stopping their usability, and so on.

This was the first brand new console I got as a kid, it was the limited edition Star Wars Episode 1 Racer bundle in the Summer of 99 when I was 7.

I remember playing Mario 64 and Mario kart for hours. Especially Mario 64 was groundbreaking back then and wowed me. I don’t remember if I had the console at launch back then probably a few years in

I think playing Super Mario 64 for the first time was the most mind blowing experience I will ever have in gaming. Think it was 1997 so I was 9 at the time. Controlling a character in 3D in these massive levels using a joystick was well beyond anything I'd ever come across at that point.

I wasted countless hours on Goldeneye in both single and multiplayer. Never did manage to unlock all the cheats - I can still recall the devastation at completing Facility on 00 Agent in under 2:05, with Trevelyan dying a second before the end, thus failing the mission.

Ocarina of Time, well, what can you say? That was something truly special at release, and it's still every bit as good to me these days.

Banjo-Kazooie was also an absolute delight. I'm probably due another play through of this at some point.

Shout out to Space Station Silicon Valley and Beetle Adventure Racing as two sometimes overlooked gems (although @Veknoid_Outcast gave the latter a mention in their article).

Definetly my favorite console aside from the Super Nintendo. To this day, I say it has the best Mario Party game. A console having two of the most revolutionary games in history (SM64 and Zelda OoT)can't be called less than Legendary

I was born too late to experience this console but do wanna go back and play some of the games on it at some point. The one I most wanna play is Paper Mario since I loved Thousand Year Door.
