Forums - Gaming - I was really wrong about Dispatch

Tagged games:

Dispatch was a game that I was really interested when it got announced. Maybe because I absolutely LOVE games Telltale-styled. And that comes back from 2012 when I played The Walking Dead (Season 1).

Then, last year came. I tried the Demo from Steam and... Man... I stopped it after 10 minutes. I couldn't believe the game was an "job simulator" with super-heroes. And a VERY boring one. The demo also showed that the "Character will remember that" comes from who you choose to dispatch, making the gameplay very, very weird.

I gave up after that. Definitely the game was not for me. And that comes from someone who worked one entire year at an Call Center.

But yesterday, while wondering why the heck people praise this game so much, I decided to try it from the beginning. I wasn't expecting much, but still... It was worth a shot.

Boy, I was wrong!

I got surprised by the first chapter. So much story going on. The "Job" segments are a very small partition from the game, and characters are very well developed. This is Telltale at their best form. The decisions are tough, and to be honest, even at the Dispatching segments, I had some fun completing the tasks.

I finished 5 from the 8 chapters already. My only complain is that they are maybe way too short, but since there are multiple routes, this is understandable.

Anyway, if you, for some reason, skipped Dispatch, give it a try. I can fully understand why this game is being so praised.

Normally this kind of game isn't my thing at all, but I wanna give it a go one of these days as the same was true for titles like 13 Sentinels or Vampire Survivors yet when I took a risk on those it was worth it.

I don't wanna support it until they uncensor the Switch version though.

Glad you came around. It's one of my favorite games of last year and I hope we get a second 'season'.

Yeah, there isn't very much actual game in there, but I didn't mind. The writing and the performances are so good. It's simply enjoyable, an oasis in the middle of all the crap that is called entertainment now.

Refresh my memory, did they censor just sex stuff or blood/gore too?

Because in my playthrough, there was only one sex-themed scene (that lasted less than 15 seconds) and about 3 to 5 "mild nudity" scenes (not longer than 10 seconds), and they were really irrelevant to the story.

But if they censored the blood... Yeah, that's gonna do some impact.

IIRC all nudity and sex was covered by big intrusive black bars, plus some other dumb shit like even a middle finger being censored.

Dispatch is fantastic!
