Not anytime soon. Internet needs to be robust to run an entire game, especially online multiplayer games. And that's often on PCs and consoles. Smart TVs are super weak right now by comparison.

It may have been an option for some users, however, NVIDIA have capped playtime and raised prices. Subscriptions would not take that long to blast past $1000, people are just better off saving up. I guess MS has xcloud, but I have no idea if it is any good and at what price; are all Xbox games available on that service? And I guess Sony's offerings are likely the worst of the three technical wise?
the costs of running servers will go up too...
Buying / replacing parts / maintenance / electricity ect.
Streaming a service (ei. a game via the net) won't save anyone.
It is just locking you into paying the same or more, over a longer period of time.
It is not some free way to print money for the people offering it.
Neither is, it going to save money in the long run.
Plus the added lag and stream compression....
I think its more likely that games just stagnate, and people don't upgrade hardware for very long periods of time.
That or there is a "monthly payment plan" to lease/buy hardware.
We've heard that streaming is the future forever by now, and its still not happening or very appealing.
Someone just needs to enter the market with an affordable console again and appeal to developers in a way that Sony did with the PS1. Offer them more revenue, get them excited and go from there. Because if the marketplace actually gets to a thousand dollar entry fee, there is going to be quite the opportunity.

people forget the cost of the people offering such a service.
The internet/bandwidth, server upkeep costs, cooling/electricity/maintenance/dying parts that need to be replaced... The staff needed to overlook such projects and just regular upgrades for better offerings.
The costs of running such a streaming service, need to be made into profits (otherwise why bother?).
So the users pay for it, and over time, it ends up costing more than buying the hardware itself, would.
Why are investors all pushing Streaming as this magic fix?
It is not, one.

Is this 2009? Why are we still giving this fucking idiot attention still? He is 0 for 99868746r66984765475 predictions.

We reap what we sow
Thank God, he just saved gaming, streaming is about to die.

What's better than sex with a big titty goth GF? Sex with 2 big titty goth GFs! PS2 plays PS1 games and PS2 games. Sold more and even sold better than the best selling console of the next generation. PS1 can't say that. Plus DMC and ZOE and Gungrave and God Hand so I have to pick PS2.
