people forget the cost of the people offering such a service.
The internet/bandwidth, server upkeep costs, cooling/electricity/maintenance/dying parts that need to be replaced... The staff needed to overlook such projects and just regular upgrades for better offerings.
The costs of running such a streaming service, need to be made into profits (otherwise why bother?).
So the users pay for it, and over time, it ends up costing more than buying the hardware itself, would.
Why are investors all pushing Streaming as this magic fix?
It is not, one.
