WHATS NEW FOR 2026?
For THE THREAD
- There will be no pledging this year; Instead I would like to create a more laxed "Personal" version where instead of trying to reach arbitrary numbers, its more like, "Here are the games I want complete this year", vs "I pledged 10 so I need to come up with 10 games to beat" If at the end of 2026 that happens to be 15 games, 3 really long games or just one game that is totally fine.
- Completed games will still be tracked and the user of said completed game will be highlighted, but the amount of games you have personally beat will not. So, instead of here's Xxain's list of game's, VersusEvil's list of games, and LegitHyperbole's list of games it will be one big list with your name next to the game(s) you completed.
- Rather you want to be hardcore or casual about it, you are all invited.
For PLAYSTATION XBOX and STEAM USERS:
- Last year the only games that were applicable were games that had a PLATINUM trophy or the XBOX/STEAM equivalent. This has now changed! If the game has no Platinum, 1000GS, or steam equivalent it will still count as completed as long as the list is complete.
For NINTENDO SWITCH USERS:
I really want to this version to be more inclusive for Switch users so I have come up with 3 different methods to allow for participation.
- In game achievements - While Nintendo does not a have a universal achievement system, 3rd party developers work around that by including their achievement list within the game itself. This list compiled on Reddit - https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/comments/xl00ju/list_of_switch_games_with_ingame_achievements_in/ contains tons of games that will qualify.
- Identifiable 100% - Most of Nintendo developed games have a means to let the player know you did everything. Examples of this would be Mario Odyssey and 880 Moons, Super Smash Bros Ultimate(varies on what people consider 100%), every Metroid game(Best ending), Mario Kart, Kirby, Breath of the Wild and the sequel etc. These will count as long as you get to that point.
- The Comparison - The most flimsy but I still want to give it a try; This method allows Switch users to refer to PS/XBOX/STEAM achievement list when there are no in game achievements, or an easily identifiable 100%. I do recommend though, that you use this method only when it is easy prove that you completed the trophy list if pressed. The original Final Fantasy 7 is an example of a game that can be easily proven that you did it because it is simply "let me this, let see that" type of thing.
