Forums - Gaming - What's your opinion on Geoff Keighley?

Geoff Keighley is the host for some of the most important gaming events. He's the creator of  The Game Awards, Summer Game Fest, and he even hosted the Gamescom Opening Night Live event.

At the internet, I see some mixed reactions on him. Some people like the way he presents his shows, while others have some things against him. Personally, I have no complains about his events, and I'm even used to him as a video game star at this point.

What do you think?

...to avoid getting banned for inactivity, I may have to resort to comments that are of a lower overall quality and or beneath my moral standards.

I don’t have any feelings one way or the other. Isn’t he just the figurehead of The Game Awards & Summer Games Fest? I’m happy to see all the hype he’s able to drum up in the industry. Plus, TGA is always a fun watch.

Not a fan.

His brand of "games are serious art dude" comes off as tacky and pretentious to me, and his shows are so full of annoying advertising and self-congratulatory wankery.

I like what he does. Giving us the VGAs and the summer showcase now that E3 is gone. I think he really do care about video games and he seems like a nice guy. The only negative I would say is that I dont think hes a very good host for these shows.

I mean he seems like a decent guy who genuinely loves gaming. The way he does things doesn't necessarily match my sensibilities, but so what? I'm not going to shit on him for that. Some people just love to hate and finding reasons to hate.

I know of him back from Gametrailers days, I think his love of games is genuine, he's well connected in industry and not afraid (at least he wasn't) to ask tough questions, so I guess I can say he's a player - in more than one sense.

Two words.....Great guy.

Followed him in the 2010s and loved his shows. Those were the peak of gaming.

He's a very bland personality. I'm not sure how he's managed to position himself as such a prominent figure.

Don't really have any strong opinions/feelings about him. He's just a guy that shows up on my screen when I'm waiting for the trailers.

If you don’t have anything nice to say, right?
