hey everybody it's been a long time since ive made a thread and there's been talk of how every user should commit to making one interesting thread per week, so this is mine:
welcome everybody to the top 10 video game systems of all time.
basically how this is going to work is that i am going to name the system with the reasons why it is where it is in the ranking and all that jazz. i know people like to say lists like this are subjective but i have tried my best to take a step back from bias and just look at it from an unbiased perspective. as far as criteria on how i created the list, i basically just looked at the system and placed it in whichever spot depending on how good the system is. thats pretty much it. i didnt really want to take any other factors into account because, again, i am trying to make a definitive list and i figure if i took other things into account then it is going to inject more opinion/subjectivity into it.
usually with lists like this, you start with number ten and go all the way down to one, but im going to start with one and go to ten and the reason being for this is because if i started with ten and went down to one, by the time i got to the top three, itd be so obvious what it is that it would kill the tension/suspense of the thread. so in the interest in preserving suspense, i will save tenth place for last and ill start with number one, also because number one is just so obvious before i even start the list that it would be better to just get it out of the way since we all know what it is.
if there is a system you think ive left out, make your voice heard in the comment section below and we will all go round and round trying to convince each other which system belongs where bada bing bada boom, you know how these things go. i also want to say that i am dedicating this first thread in a long time to rol, i suspect that he is going to agree highly with this ranking and i am looking forward to seeing his thoughts.
without further ado heres the list
1. snes
like i said, this one was obvious so im not sure there needs to be a "reason"
2. n64
it has the greatest video game ever created on it, im not even going to bother mentioning the game because you all already know what it is, so im not going to waste any more characters even saying the name of the game because it would just be pointless since everybody already knows what it is because its literally that obvious that I dont even have to say what it is. this system had good multiplayer.
3. wii
revolutionized gaming and it also launched with twilight princess and wii sports
4. nes
invented gaming, so it had to take a high spot. it also made zelda and metroid and the mario games. it also made mega man castlevania and punch out. i know its outdated but i was actually just playing zelda 1 last night and it was still fun. i got to the 6th level and i did it in like 45 minutes and got the magic sword.
5. ds
revolutionized gaming. i got the ds lite when it came out with brain age. new super mario bros was sick too. i was in high school when it came out and me and my friends would play in class while the teacher was talking. we did mario vs luigi, i used to always win at that. i thought it was cool how the system came out with a pen.
6. switch
the switch had to have a spot on the list since its the highest selling console of all time. thats enough to earn it a spot. it wasnt as revolutionary as the other systems that are above it so thats why it gets this spot.
7. wii u
the wii u had a bunch of sick games. a lot of them went to the switch, but if you look at it from the perspective of the time period it was released, it was the only place you could get all those awesome games. in fact, the wii u if you think about it was the only system coming out with quality original titles, especially in 2014 and 2015.
8. gamecube
i got this for christmas in 2001 and played melee all the time. then next christmas i got metroid. i will always remember that opening scene when samus came out of her ship and how cool that was. gamecube was so cool.
9. 3ds
the 3d on this system was so awesome. i dont know why people turned it off, i guess it caused some people headaches, but i always used to say at the time you just have to work through the headache/dizziness or whatever it was you were experiencing. this is the way nintendo wanted you to experience the games and i think true hardcore gamers would have had it on whether or not it caused them headaches. i personally never experienced this, so i am not even sure if this was actually a thing but ive seen people online complain about it. personally i think nintendo should have never allowed it to be optional. 3ds had a bunch of cool games.
10. gameboy
when this came out they had the option to pack it with either mario or tetris and they picked tetris.
