DOOM: The Dark Ages is really becoming one of the most antecipated games of this year for a lot of people. For us, PC owners, the Steam page has some system requirements for it.

Please note that the game is still some months away from release, so, even if the page doesn't say anything, this may be some placeholder, with more detailed info coming soon. But so far, this is what we have.

Is your PC ready to face Hell?

There's been some complaining about these requirements but they're actually quite reasonable and considering how Indiana Jones runs this should run well on pretty modest hardware as long as settings are turned down. It's unfortunate that Pascal and RDNA 1 owners are starting to get locked out of big games now but the former will be 9 years old when this comes out so it's just time to finally upgrade. It is worse for the latter since something like the 5700 XT will only be about 6 years old when it comes out but that's on AMD for releasing a bad GPU lineup that had an outdated feature set.

Ray tracing capable cards have been available since 2018 and the current consoles since 2020 so games starting to require it now is expected and the complaints against that are increasingly sounding like luddite rhetoric which is annoying. Also it seems the 2060 Super and RX 6600 could be common minimum GPUs for a while going forward so anyone with those cards or above will probably be fine for a while still.

I meet beyond the expectations of the recommended 1440p specs and fall short of the 4K Ultra settings due to my GPU but I think I can get a decent run out of it.

If I remember right, it was a 4080 for 4K , but I have a 4070 SUPER.

Hopefully its optimized and at least runs as well as FFVII Rebirth which also showed the same requirement but I saw someone with almost the exact build as me with the same GPU running 70+ FPS at 4K.

Those are great requirements for a current gen only game. Most games, *cough UE5 games* require a 4080 as recommended, but here’s id Software continuing to show why their engine is still one of the best in the business.

You called down the thunder, now reap the whirlwind

I'll play via gamepass and I'll try to run at 1440p... so wish me luck.

The only thing that could probably stop you from playing at 1440p High settings might be the RAM, since it requires 32GB, and you only have 16GB. But if the game turns out to be well optimized, I think you're fine.

I dont think the ram is the real problem, but the vram is, so I'll need to reduce textures, shadows, and maybe I'll need to use Dlss

The minimum requirements are actually pretty steep, because they basically mean you can't play the game at all with an low-end GPU. It's specifically the 8 GB VRAM requirement that seems to be the issue.
