This is happening pretty soon and they have not announced regional pricing. Also I didn't see info on the month to month plans.
Pretty shitty to not give us all the details in a single announcement.
This is also quite a steep increase.
Once my subscription expires I won't renew it

I unsubscribed today. Honestly good of sony to remind me to not pay for ps plus anymore, hardly use it.

Yep. PC gaming is looking better and better.
$500 for a ps5
$200 to upgrade internal storage
$80 a year to play online over 5 years $400
Total: $1100 (solid PC for that price)

I understand what you're saying but in that case I would just go this route...
$400 for PS5 digital
$0 for upgrade internal storage (why need to?)
$135 or 160 x 5yrs for PS Plus Extra or Premium = $675 or $800
Total:$1075 or $1200
Either way, this option at least comes with access to hundreds of games and I will still choose this over PC.
Sure you can get a solid PC around that price but not a lot of great games. Whatever the cost of your PC is, include an additional $600 on top to get PC Game Pass for 5yrs.
Sony lost over 2 million subscribers last year in 3 months after the revamp. They've seemingly regained the subscribers back to 47.4 million or so. But this is playing with fire, to put it mildly. Perhaps Sony figures for the few million or so they might lose they'll make more revenue per subscriber and also get some new subscribers thank to the excellent sales of the PS5.
But if Sony lost 2 million or so people in the first months after their revamp, this seems even more devastating in theory. I would not be surprised if there is a drop in around 5 million PS Plus subscribers and a lot of people who stay downgrading from Premium to one of the lower tiers or even Extra to the lowest tier.
I'm tempted to outright unsubscribe, my subscription is currently set to renew right before Christmas.
Lifetime Sales Predictions
Switch: 151 million (was 73, then 96, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million)
PS5: 115 million (was 105 million) Xbox Series S/X: 67 million (was 60 million)
PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)
3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

Sony's out of touch. Playing for online multiplayer was already one of the biggest scams in gaming. Raising it 30% with no improvement to the service is even worse somehow.
I am not a PS+ subscriber and have only ever subscribed during Black Friday sales, however I skipped this year because frankly I don't play online anymore. Will not be resubscribing this year following the news. I really don't care about the "free" games they give out and even when subscribed I generally forget to add them to my account
Release a cheap/free tier for Online only scammers!
