No they are forcast for this fiscal year which ends in March.

Oops, yeah, for a moment i forgot in what month we are, but my point still stands.

And you have to remember that a lot of Sony's revenue is being dumped into R&D for the PS5 for this fiscal year. I'm pretty sure other years they have been higher than Nintendo's. Next year will probably be the same as they will be taking a loss on the PS5 HW.

Utterly amazing! Congrats! I can't wait to see how this gens total numbers add up when Switch sales finish. Could be the strongest gen ever in sales across the board?

7th gen:

PS3 = 87,41m
Xb360 = 85,8m
Wii = 101,64

total = ~274,85m

8th gen:  (so far(useing VGCz numbers, platform totals)

PS4 = 106,99m
XB1 = 46,55m
WiiU = 13,97m
Switch = 51,78m

total = ~222,29m

So theres currently like a 52m+ gap needed to be closed.

Yes I think before its all said and done, this gen will be the strongest gen in sales (units).
PS4 still has another 20-30m left in it, and Switch will likely go well over 80m too.
That alone should be enough to do it.  XB1 isnt dead yet either, it might do another 8-10m or so.

Not only taking loss on HW but also selling less SW as moving to a new platform and also less royalties from third parties as even with crossgen during the release of the new platform it have a decrease on total SW sold on the year.

148 million at the end of April thanks to Final Fantasy VII Remake.

So 159 millions by year's end and boom PS2 outsold just like that!

Legit question, how much do people expect this to system sell? Because the idea that jrpg fans lived this entire gen for 7 years and only is now considering picking up a PS4... shouldn’t most of the market for this game have all ready bought a PS4 for other Jrpgs, like ff15?

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

It's just Keiji's way of hyping FFVII:R. Nobody expects more than a temporary bump to PS4 numbers.

FFVIIR for all the hype it have won't increase sales of PS4 for more than like 1M over what it would do in the same 1month period.

I would expect a bump of no more than a couple hundred thousand. Perhaps in Japan it may have a bigger impact than elsewhere due to PS4 being on very small numbers there for quite a long time.

Yeah if the combination of Final Fantasy XV, Dragon Quest XI, Monster Hunter World, Kingdon Hearts 3, Persona 5, Tales of, Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Neir: Automata, Ys VIII, Disgaea 5, Ni No Kuni 2, Valkyria Chronicles 4, etc didnt get the JRPG/ARPG audience on PS4 than I dont see how this game will.

That I can explain, I`m not really a fan of JRPG (even though played quite a few), but I`m truly a sucker for FF.
