Forums - Gaming Discussion - Jim Sterling’s site under attack after Zelda: BotW review

The score has veered off to a 97 and it appears that some people are holding Jim Sterling responsible, after he published his review giving the game a 7/10

Here is the review:

From his twitter account:

Is it ok for a 7/10 to be that judgemental? It's not a 3/10, right? And what about a review being someone's opinion? Are the fans a bit overeacting about it?

Your thoughts?

A bit? They are idiots. People who take game review score this seriously obviously have no lives of their own to live. Pathetic...

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

LUL. How dare he pretend that BOTW is anything less than perfect. It isn't really surprising as he is really suffering from open world fatigue like many of us do.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Regardless of your opinion on the score itself, attacking a person (or his website) for his subjective valoration of a videogame should never be a course of action.

It's actually a good review. I bet most people didn't even read it and just gez mad because of the silly score.

Official member of VGC's Nintendo family, approved by the one and only RolStoppable. I feel honored.

I mean 7/10 isn't even a bad score. I've thoroughly enjoyed games that have scored 5/10 by some people.

Well now I really want to read the review. I'm sure I'm not the only one. Looks like Jim will get the best of this exchange.

People started dogpiling once they saw the metascore drop, like its reputation has been damaged somehow. It's still going to end being the top game of the platform with a bullet. I think the game is past the honeymoon stage to where people could express a little objectivity without falling apart over it now.

Bad form, best way to deal with it would have been just to ignore it.

hah, well, some fragile people thought the Zelda metacritic page was their safe space and now those special snowflakes' personality is shattered by the reality that not everybody will worship their god as much as they do

I don't doubt that Zelda BotW is a great game that deserved lots of the praise showered at it, but even great games won't resonate with everyone

personally I can't really comprehend what makes Jim love musou games like Hyrule Warriors (which he gave a 9.0) this much, but if that's his actual level of enjoyment he gets from that then it's fine for him to award these scores
