Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Reggies Thoughts on Nintendo Going Third Party.

Not quite finished the video yet, but I'd prefer them to discuss whether it's good for Nintendo as a company rather than comments like "We take pride in it", "It's good for the industry."... even with those comments though the amount of innovations he listed off and all of them of note were not in recent years. Motion-Controls, 3d and Augmented Reality have not made a lasting change on gaming.

Also the wireless controller comment is false.  edit: my mistake, missed the "or made mainstream" part.

Reggie lives in his own bubble.

Please say we're not going to go that petty.

Controller Defintion - "a remote piece of hardware used to direct or control an electronic device"

It is a wireless controller, a Joystick was the primary input for the Atari 2600. Nintendo did not bring the innovation of Wireless Controllers to games.

Regardless Reggie's points were not a good case in my opinion. He talks about innovating for the good of the industry, and one of his points is even PARENTAL CONTROLS.

He doesn't make an argument that Nintendo is better off as a hardware manufacturer, his argument is solely about pride, what they enjoy doing and "the good of the industry."

To be fair he did say invented OR made mainstream. While NES/SNES had wireless controllers licensed by Nintendo and CDi had wireless controllers. Was not until Wavebird that Logitech and others started making wireless controllers for PS2/Xbox and soon everyone followed. Also remember N64 introduced 4 person multiplayer without needing a seperate device.

Oh and as a bonus fact. Every single Nintendo console has been online and capable of DLC. Yes all the way back to Famicom,SNES,N64 and forward were online and had DLC.

Eh??? World Wide Web didn't even launch till 1991, how could the NES be "online capable."

"you just worry about ganon or bowser, let us worry about the business"

RIP MatPat

I would love to have seen this as a legitimate business conversation, but Reggie was more interested in promoting Switch. Understandable considering the forum though.

Well, I can't be bothered to listen to Reggie's thoughts on anything, but I am glad they finally decided to go third party.
