Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Laura Dale rumor: Assassin's Creed 2017 is coming to the Switch

if this is true, then good bye for a hope that the next assassins creed would be worth a damn. if they want to regain interest in the series, dont limit it by making their next game have to run on a .15 teraflop device. use the power that the PS4 and XB1 consoles have to create an epic world.

Did the last AC games suffer from also being on the WiiU which is even weaker?

Your concern is invalid. Games will still use all the power of each console and be scaled to fit.

Hopefully it is a good game in the first place.

I see too much stuff complaining about the size and scope of the new AC, and too little hope of the Switch getting a big multiplat. Come on, people! It might be the best thing ever, it might be Unity all over again, who knows. Regardless, it's good Ubisoft is trying to get their big multiplats on the Switch, even if they are graphically gimped.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Scaling and optimization are really, really not Ubisoft's thing.

Case in point; I just bought Deus Ex: Mankind Divided on Steam winter sale, it runs like sheer, unadultered shit on my monster PC

Your case in point for Ubisoft optimization is a Square Enix game? :P

People complain about lack of third party games on Switch.

When it does get a rumor of it, people still complain.

Not a good idea, Ubisoft should focus on PS4 and Xbox One. Nintendo Switch will only restrict what an Assassin's Creed game could be capable of on the PS4 and Xbox One.

You shouldn't take seriously those comments. If they really care about the game scale and performance, both of them shold be asking for it being high end PC exclusive, not limiting on any consoles.

Not surprised the ones on Wii U sold decently.

Haha! Good catch! I meant Assassin's Creed Unity, of course...

I also bought DE: Mankind Divided though (and it runs like shit as well, incidentally)... Feels like Crytek made it.

None of the things you mentioned were limited in AC4 and none of the following ACs could claim to be any bigger or complex despite being on much stronger hardware. A mindless open world game like AC is very easily scalable without sacrificing gameplay.

So basically your fears have no basis in reality. If Ubi really does want to inflict suffering on themselves by trying to make it run on the Switch, that's fine. That does not mean the other versions will be gimped in any way.

AC4 was a cross gen title. of course its not going to be bigger and complex. AC Unity had a much bigger and dense world, with a very impressive crowd simulation, and smoother animations.

but my arguement isnt that AC Unity or Syndicate were better than previous AC games. my argument is that a switch version can limit the potential of the new games, and looking at the numbers and math, its a reasonable and factual arguement. running the same game on a .15tf device, is going to be limiting the things that can be done on a 1.8tf or 1.3tf.

Unity and Syndicate were CPU bound though. It's why the X1 version of Unity had averaged a couple more frames per second than the PS4 version. While the Switch GPU is far behind the X1 and PS4, it's CPU is not.
