So we all know console minecrafts legs are epic, with combined sales of ~110k per week. But from the statistics page on Minecraft.net

they show sales in the last 24 hours. They're at 14k per day. Which means that per week minecraft for pc sells ~100k per week. So that's 210k. Per week. And we still haven't factured in mobile. Even though I have no idea of mobile MC sales, I think it's safe to assume 40k per week, which means Minecrafts baseline is 250k per week, or 1,05 million a month, or 12,6 million a year. And that's without christmas boost and boost from releasing on next-gen.

When will it pass Wii Sports do you think (Minecraft is currently at 54 million total).

At this pace, in about three years.

I almost want to say that Notch is the one buying all these extra copies to keep the game relevant.... Then again, since virtually every channel on youtube has minecraft... I wouldn't doubt it

I'll always wonder how the hell did Minecraft manage to become so damn popular! Really...

And I remember the times people claimed "it will run out of steam soon", when Notch raised the pricetag.

if u include mobile, yes it will surpass wii sports

and why? because its cheap and u can even upgrade ur last gen version for only 5 bucks.
this game will be huge on ps4 and even bigger on xbox one (or can u upgrade form x360 to ps4 alswell for 5 bucks? dont think so)
