Who does MS consider a greater threat?

Sony 89 83.18%

Nintendo 17 15.89%

Total:106

We know some details about the PS4 and the nextbox, but one thing is certain is that the PS4 is looking to be a powerhouse.

My question to you is, who does Microsoft consider a greater threat between Sony and Nintendo, according to you?

For instance, we don't know whether the nextbox will be a powerhouse or a more modest offering, retailing at a more mass-friendly price. If they go more modest, they give Nintendo the advantage. If they go more powerhouse, they give Sony the advantage. Why? Because it enhances the multi-plat support of the former or the latter, depending on the HW direction (weak or strong).

So, if it were that kind of a choice, who do you think MS would prefer to give the advantage to, Nintendo or Sony, and who do they consider the greater threat, overall?

Thanks.

Sony easily, Nintendo mixes with Sony or M$ while M$ are always competing alot more (multiplat, hardcore, etc)

If there was a poll, I'm pretty sure that Sony would get about 84% of the votes.

Sony, they both compete for the same audiences.

MS will always just leave Nintendo alone, they don't consider Nintendo much a threat to their game market.

Neither, I think they are far more worried about apple

Neither. Like I have said multiple times over the years, Microsoft is a company with virtually limitless capital at their disposal. They will forge their vision of where video gaming should be going no matter the obstacle. I think they are going to try and pull what Nintendo couldn't with the Wii U, get both the core and casual with their new console and dare I say...have a chance of succeeding?

For the purpose of this thread, I would say Sony presents the tougher of the two obstacles since Nintendo already gave up on the casual.

It is obviously Sony. Is this research for another thread to prove a point? Or do you really think Nintendo has a chance of being even close on this?

I think Nintendo has a chance of being close on this because, though Microsoft as a whole fear Sony more (in the greater scheme of things), in the VG market I believe that Nintendo is a more fearsome force to recon with. Having said that, MS and Sony have traditionally competed for a similar market, however it's not necessarily as lucrative as Nintendo's pet market I think.

Neither. Both companies are chump change for Microsoft. Microsoft only entered the gaming medium as a preventative measure before either (Sony, really) ever becomes a threat.

I think they both consider Nintendo the bigger threat.

I'm not sure if this question is even serious. They're called the HD "twins" for a reason. There will be much twinning and sibling rivalry next gen as well, probably more.
