Forums - Sales Discussion - PSV v 3DS v PSP v DS - TRUE Aligned launch - Week 80 update. BRUTAL

Great post. You should update it weekly.

For Japan, Captivate next month is to me the last hope. You can't do well there without capcom support, Well you can, but you must be Nintendo. Also needs Level 5 and Square-enix support. TGS is too late to announce things, as they'll be all for 2013, and 2D Mario and Monster Hunter 4 will make this 7:1 beating into a 20:1 massacre easily.

But while SCEA and SCEE are doing good jobs (since to me Sony is not a japanese developer anymore), SCEJ is a disaster, so it's hard to have hope.

PSV getting beaten pretty bad by the psp. :(

Action required/possible?

Not yet. I think we won't see anything done till E3 - at E3 Sony should probably annouce they are bundling 4 gig card into Wi-Fi Vita and 8 gig card into 3G units accompanied by some new game annoucments are some release schedule beyond June

Monster Hunter at Captivate in early April is a real possibility, it all depends on Nintendo's iron grip on this one.

Sony knows it needs it and even slow SCEJ must be selling it's soul to get it. Capcom must be hearing indecent money propositions from them.

Oh dear...things really are dire it would seem, and, as you said, it'll only get worse...

You should update every week. See how things go.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

I will keep the records and will update now and then.

Whats your view on this?  Sony like to use the word momentum... Vita has none at the moment.

I really enjoyed the 3DS-DS first year thread that someone had going. It was cool to see the massive turn around for the 3DS once the price was cut and the mario games were released.

It will be very interesting to see whether Vita has a massive turn around as well and what Sony does to achieve it. It's definitely not looking good right now.

Looking at the pre-order charts for Japan, it's covered with PSP games and not a single Vita game. The sales in Japan should continue to slowly decline for the next few months.

The Japan graph looks troubling, and with no major software titles planned....I expect a price cut for the PSV which will hurt Sony....again. Nintendo was smart selling the 3DS at $250 and then cutting the price to what they actually wanted to sell it for just before the PSV launched.

I'm not worried. If E3 goes by without word on COD, MH, MGS or GTA on Vita than I'll be worried. If they all get announcements or even gameplay footage I'll be a very happy panda.

Agree to an extent, launching with FIFA and Uncharted was a good move... not sure it has paid off though?

Yes, it had. I say this all the time. Vita will not beat the 3ds, or even PSP - PSP was supposed to be PS2 portable, it started hyped as hell - but will show healthy numbers in the west slowly crawling to PSP numbers all its life. It won't be outsold 7:1 by the 3DS ever in the US or Europe because of these games. And it won't lack big games ever too (at the very minimum it will have sony's big franchises - which are all western - with it). It'll be a viable second place. In japan it's not being viable, it's being killed.
