FIFA 12 holds on at No.1.

EA's FIFA 12 continues its run at the top of the table, with its one per cent increase in sales enough to fend off a surging Modern Warfare 3 (up eight per cent). Skyrim and Just Dance 3 slip one place each to No.3 and No.4 respectively, whilst battlefield 3 takes fifth place.

After the best part of a month we finally have a new entry in Top 40, with Capcom's Resident Evil: Revelations new at No.6 - it's the seventh largest launch for a 3DS title.

Further down the chart Zumba Fitness is at No.7, Saints Row: The Third takes eighth place, Assassin's Creed: Revelations is at No.9 and Zumba Fitness 2 slides to tenth.

The week's only other new entry is The Sims 3: Master Suite Stuff at No.23.

VideoGamer.com Analysis

After weeks of chart stagnation, this Friday should finally see a real shake up at the top with both Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Soulcalibur 5 arriving in stores. We expect the former to take the No.1 spot, but which platform will sell the most copies? The Metal Gear Solid HD compilation will also be tempting, especially given its sub £30 asking price.

With mixed reviews it will be interesting to see how Resident Evil: Revelations does in its second week - a Top 20 place seems most likely.

Good, but I think they could do better.

Well, on the bright side all titles ahead of it are multiplatform titles at least. Would've been nice with some actual numbers though.

I'm cool with this.

MGS HD is releasing BEFORE MGS3 3D?

Sounds like NBAJAM Wii levels of retardation to me.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Welll... not bad... but not great! Maybe 8k sold?
