So in conclusion: Super Mario Bros 3 is so amazing it helped defining the FPS genre, EPIC WIN!!!!

Now seriously, the game has its flaws like every game, but it's really good, especially playing it world-by-world, it's sublime.

Yes, yes it is. I have beaten neither game, but I last longer in Super Ghouls and Goblins.

I'd agree - in fact, I've found all 2D Mario games to be overrated.  Much preferred Wonderboy.
