First world problem of having all three main consoles and a gaming computer
There's Chocobos in the avatar.
I was unemployed early 2010s and at one point had about 100 games finished in one year. Now I average around 20-25 per year. Well most of my game purchases are from bundles on Fanatical or Humble, get like 8-10 games for like $15 to $20. Combination of compulsion (bundle purchases) and the intention of playing them in the future (individual game purchases). Though I dont have as much free time to play games as I did 15 years ago, I still play a decent amount. ---- You make it sound like I dont know how to manage my finances. Thankfully I made enough these last few years due to the amount of disposable income I had (although I'm going to cut off that due to the fact that I have a child now) -Â my gaming purchases are only a drop in the bucket compared to everything else. I spend about $200-$400 average a month (this includes money I get from my Youtube channel) compare to the $8,000+ on other expenses. I dont mind sharing this but I have 3 savings accounts First one I have $100 per month gets poured in by cutting it from my check. Second one I put in $500 every two weeks Third one I put in $500 every two weeks So in total, about $2,100 gets poured into my savings account per month which is roughly $25,000 per year. Been doing this for the past 3-4 years and thanks to that I was able to pay off my father's funeral costs immediately which cost me about $20,000. I have debt from all the traveling and all the expenses I've had from when my father passed (outside of the Funeral costs), home maintenance and the further expenses from stuff getting expensive and my family getting bigger. Once I'm done with clearing all that out (which at the way things are going right now - it will be cleared out by October 2025), planning to open up a fourth savings account and pouring another $1,000 per month. |
Same I have had times where I have had a lot of time to play, sounds great but it's really not, I hate those sites like PSN profiles cause it shows those times in the teophy data, even shows that I've had insomnia and I'm sure there is so much other data that can be extracted.
And yes, savings account over buying games you aren't going to play, especially games that you can't sell if it comes down to the wire is the way to go... some advice I might need to heed to cause you're doing way better than me with saving 😉. The data is misleading when you look at it at face value and I suppose it isn't difficult to rack up these numbers with bundles and all that, like you said.
